Stroubes is great

Went there for ours and it was fantastic. Service was top notch and the food was beyond excellent.

Appetizers:
Lamb lollipops - holy shite I could have just ordered 4 of these and been great.
Pork belly - was very tasty

I got the the tuna with a side of crawfish risotto. I think it may have been the best piece of fish I've ever had and the risotto was da bomb.

Last time I went was November and the meal quality was way down from previous visits. How long has it been since you have been there? I haven't seen much in the was of reviews lately...

Houma's House if you don't mind going on the outskirts of Baton Rouge.

He said Baton Rouge. You don't expect him to drive all the way to Houma to eat do you?

I hope you were joking with this. It is only 28 miles from the center of Baton Rouge.

We went the day after Christmas. It was my wife, brother, sister, and the daughter. All of our first time, and it was just ok. I was disappoint. The service was fantastic, but the food was meh.

when you say simple foods, can you be more specific. what kind of thing do you think you and the wife would want to order... a steak and vegetable? if so, go with ruth chris or flemings.

I guess I am asking what your definition of "safe" is.

I went on a date with a guy and we went to beausoleil and we just got appetizers and it was splendid.

My wife is a picky eater as well. It's pretty annoying, but she makes up for it in other ways.

Most restaurants will prepare something off menu if you ask politely. A lot of times I can just ask for a sauce to be left off of a steak or chicken dish.

I think Beausoleil will have things that are acceptable for a picky eater..

If she doesn't want anything with a sauce or prepared in a special way, I honestly wouldn't waste my anniversary at a type of restaurant that doesn't even cater to her type of eating. What's the point in taking her somewhere to order a piece of grilled chicken with zero sauce that will likely be marked up way more than restaurants that serve that kind of thing? I'd take her somewhere you're sure she loves so that she can be comfortable and order what she knows. The excitement of a new restaurant kinda seems meaningless if you don't want to try new things, ya know? What else would you be there for? To see the inside of the building?

Absolutely agree with Nino's. Excellent food, quiet - romantic - small restaurant. But, if on Thurs, Fri, Sat nite, make reservations. Mansur's would be my second choice. If you want loud and lively, definitely Ruffino's.
