Looking for some good casual places for lunch/dinner
A good beer spot, and maybe a local distillery to visit.

Trying to avoid the slew of obvious tourist traps up there.

Is there a legit BBQ place in the area?

We ate at JT Hannah's its was pretty good, nice casual spot.

Little Tokyo was very good.

Old Mill Cafe was very good.

Hahahhahahahhahahhahahhhaha, that’s pretty much all that is there. Go to Highlands if you want good non tourist/chain food.

Not really

Local Goat is really good. I’d highly recommend it.

Copy that big perm. About the only good meal I had there. Pancake houses as far as the eye can see.

There's probably a Cracker Barrel or 3 nearby.

Wish I could help more, but when we went, due to the Covid and the immense amount of people inhabiting Gatlinburg, we ended cooking almost every meal at the cabin, which I highly enjoyed.

We did grab lunch one day at Mama's Chicken Kitchen, which was really good. Fast and casual.

This was my preference but the wife wants to go out. Almost every place i saw online was some type of "country kitchen" spin off that serves fried chicken, pot roast, meat loaf etc.

Kings Distillery looks legit as does the Local Goat.

Anyone been to Five Oaks Farm Kitchen?

Smoky Mountain Brewery made the best English style brown ale I've ever had. Black Bear Ale. Decent pub food and a good place to watch a game.

Which selections from Kings do you recommend?

They just put out a barrel proof bourbon... I really want to give it a try. I'd just go and sample and then buy what you like. Sampling enough liquor/wine/cider to get drunk is one of the best things to do in that area.

D&S Distilling is also solid, but I don't know that they are open currently.

Smoky Mountain Brewery is good, but not spectacular... a lot of standard styles but they brew them very well. They have some of the better food in the area as well. Gatlinburg Brewing is probably going to have some better beer, plus they make a really good pizza. Yee Haw is 3rd place for breweries over there.

I don't know how casual you want or if you are ok with a bit more high end, but if you take the ride over to Maryville, Foothills Milling is legit.

It's pretty sad if you think about. It's such a beautiful area that has been brutalized by corporate chains, overconsumption, and greed. It's almost as Walmart teabagged the area.

We have never been to the area. This is our first trip. When i started looking at what was there I was scratching my head. Like why is there a Titanic Museum here? I would think with as much money has gone into that area from tourism, more diverse food choices would be available.

Similar to what you see on the gulf coast. Yea they have your common tourist places, but there is also some really good restaurants as well.

Yeah, Titanic Museum, Ripley's Believe it Not, Hatfield & McCoy "interactive" dinner, Guinness world records museum, wax museums, miniature golf, Margaritaville...it's a conglomerate of the Gulf Coast and lower end attractions that you'd find in Las Vegas. They are making money though...sigh...it could just be so, so, so much more...

Nevertheless, some spots I'd recommend: The Greenbrier, Delauders BBQ, Local Goat, Crystelle Creek, Wild Plum Tea Room

Yeah, I hate it. I'm still in the area often, my parents live near it and work takes me close to it. Plus I love fly fishing and hiking the mountains. I normally chose the less congested areas now cause it is just getting worse and worse each year. The growth in other areas in this region makes me scared isolation will be hard to find here in my lifetime.
