Hayride Scandal, a new whiskey-forward bar to take over old Lock & Key location

Hayride Scandal is a new "whiskey-forward" bar from co-owner Rob Powell and a group of private partners. Powell said the bar is set to open in April. Patrons can expect a huge selection of whiskeys, fun cocktails and a little bit different atmosphere than its predecessor.

Rent will be ridiculous. Our is like $15k a month. I really hope we move towards campus.

Maybe they could also not charge $14-$16 for a glass of buffalo trace, Four roses, or the like. I went there once, and the ambiance is cool, but the drink prices were ridiculous.

No, i just know college and my store gon back and forth for most expensive since rent. I'm at 14k a month right now.

Sadly, I dont see this place working.
$10 a drink and batch cocktails more $$ is being price sensitive? I dont know if they are trying to pass off the notion that it would be more expensive if the bar was in another area or not, but with those prices, you are targeting a specific customer. Older men(40 and above) arent going to keep the place open.
I cant see much traffic for happy hour because of the shitshow street its located on. There is nothing happy about navigating college drive at 5pm.
The older crowd that a whiskey bar will attract also isnt going out drinking monday to thursday. They have that whole family thing to be a part of.
I give it a year, unless they have some very deep pockets and are willing to give it a longer chance than normal.
Speaking of places that are going to fail, is Billfish surviving?

It doesn't sound much different than Lock & Key. It's an upscale whiskey bar with >$10 drinks. How can expect a different result? Changing the decor?

Because it is the main drag. That little shopping center where Starbucks is runs about 7 or 8k.
