Solid list. I'd move Jersey Mikes to the bottom, though.

Thanks for the info. Good luck with the new venture. Any franchises in the New Orleans area opening up soon?

Because of the proximity and price, I find myself eating at Subway at least once a week in the CBD area of New Orleans. There really needs to be some alternatives in that price range.

The Subways in One Shell Square and the Texaco building have to be 2 of the busiest lunch time Subway franchises in the country, and they are only 2 blocks apart.

Yeah there's a decent-sized gap b/t 1-4 & 5-7. A better list may be:

Firehouse
Which Wich
Lenny's
JJ's

Jersey Mikes
Quiznos
Subway

Anyone try Penn Station? They don't really count as a comparable since they serve fries, but their Philly cheese is awesome.

Funny that the OP started this thread. Today I tried a place here in Montgomery that almost everyone I know, said I should try. I went for the first time today and I really liked it. The name of the place is Momma Goldberg's and the manager told me that Baton Rouge has one. I never knew this. The food is pretty good and I'll probably go back. Has anyone tried the one in BR?

Firehouse is very solid. I like it a lot. Definitely the best of the sandwich places.

They started here in Jacksonville. The other place here in J-ville that does well is Larry's Giant Subs, and the are expanding, as well.

I like both better than Subway...

Grew up on these at Jax Beach. They are awesome. Whenever I visit my daughter at FSU we hit up Larry's. The Italian grinder at the newly opened "Which Wich" in Covington is very similar in taste and quality.

I like them both better than Firehouse and Subway is simply disgusting (though pretty healthy).

I wonder if we're going to see Larry's spread much further. I believe the closet one to LA is in Pensacola.

Anybody else out there try them?

This Advocate article dated 3/23 says its target opening date is 4/29.

LINK

Take that with a grain of salt though because I read a January article saying its target opening date was March 25.

You people just not ever eat at a Pot Belly? That's my favorite of these places along with Lenny's if I'm in the mood for a cold sandwich. Which Wich is a a pretty good substitute for Pot Belly, but Firehouse is pretty much garbage.
