Has anyone been to the new Bon Ton Prime Rib in NOLA?

I dined there in the past before its new owners. The ambiance looks nice and the menu looks good but is limited. I am taking a vendor and each of our sons to the Sugar Bowl (huge ND fan) for a pregame meal. It is open in the middle of the afternoon. Any feedback on your experience?
Another option is Chophouse across the street. I dined there before and loved it, but since I don't eat out in NOLA that often anymore I figured I try new places.

I have not.
I was in Swirl the other day and there was a gaggle of some older couples talking about it and how disappointed they were and how if you are going to use that name you have to maintain a level etc etc etc

Many people fear change, but I will take that advice to heart.
What concerns me are the limited menu options and if they are building an expanded menu.
Maybe I should play it safe and go to Chophouse instead.

I’ve heard food and service are good but the person I know who went said they waited an extra hour to get their reservation

Isn’t the new ownership group that of the chophouse too?

we went on Friday night. it was great. the place was packed and the food was pretty awesome. we sat in a booth and watch the whole dining room throughout the evening. while the menu is "limited" i feel like they are just doing a few item well, and that works for me. we skipped the sides, but i got the Cajun rib eye and the Mrs. got the fish. both were fantastic. cocktails were on point and the service was attentive and friendly. would recommend. also as someone pointed out, it is owned by the same guy that does Chophouse. that should make everyone feel like this place has it's ducks in a row, it did for me.

Yes it is.
I decided to cancel Bon Ton and reserved Chophouse. I'll definitely walk in there to scope it out on the walk to the dome.

Thanks for the review! The food looks great but since we have three kids under 13 with us I worry that they will look for more simple appetizers and side dishes.
Glad to see that they are on point. That place has history and needed a reputable owner already established.

We went last night for my wife’s birthday. Fun fact - the two other tables in our section also had women celebrating birthdays. It was pretty full, which was a good sign. Good ambiance, great service. We got baked oysters, a wedge salad, prime rib, a stuffed potato and onion rings. Food was excellent- you could cut that prime rib with a spoon. My one minor complaint was the onion rings were too salty and I didn’t like the sauce that came with them.

Went last night. Had an excellent meal.
Arrived a few minutes early and was seated right away. Place was busy, but it got even busier about one hour later. If you recall that the bar was on the back right, it's now on the left side and is much larger than the old one. You can eat at the bar as well.
Service was very good. Wife had the filet and I had the Cajun rib-eye. Both were very good. Sides and salads are large and can easily be split between two.
One more positive - no corkage fee.
