I figured there would be more closer to the source but that's nuts.

My collection has gotten a lot of help visiting here. A certain day of the month and I can hit three stores back to back as the truck arrives. It’s pretty awesome.

Buffalo trace is very easy to find common. It’s decent but nothing special.

I’m more of a rye guy anyway. If anyone is into rye, check out seagrass. It’s not expensive and it’s readily available at like $70. But it’s delicious, and barrel proof.

Nothing beats the boss though

You're the guy that tried to trash my idea of good whiskey in the crown thread ?

Baton Rouge last year at total wine, they looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for some and said it sells out immediately. Same for Eagle Rare.

Eagle rare is much harder to find nowadays, but is more readily available than other bourbons. BT is available at most places now. BT expanded their distillery a couple years back, though i don't think we are at the point of seeing the returns for it, however, regular buffalo trace is all over baton rouge.

Total Wine, however, is not the place to go for bourbon, IMO. They are too busy pushing their own version of "Kirkland's" brand shite. I see more bottles of overpriced bourbon i never heard of there, than anywhere. And most of it is bourbon they buy and slap their own labels on.

Should've stopped by any random gas station or grocery store

I mean, it's not at every store. But I can find at least one local store with it every single day. I wouldn't call that hard to find in 2024 bourbon terms.

If you can't find a 100 1L bottles of Buffalo Trace readily available at $25 in an easy half hour of your home, your retailers are reaming you.

Depends on where you live. In some areas, it is very hard to find.

It's definitely specific to your locale, but I can walk into Whole Foods this morning and buy a case if I wanted (I live in Lafayette)

I once bought 4 bottles of Angels Envy Rye at WalMart for $44 a piece. They were discounted for some reason.

BT is an allocated bourbon but it’s one of the easiest allocateds to find. I have probably a case of it right now. The harder to find ones are way better - Stagg, Blanton, and of course December’s distro of pappy.

Stagg is definitely better. If you gave me a blind tasting of Buffalo Trace and Blantons, not sure Blantons would win.

The 20 went for $197 a bottle. After market of $4k or more.

At that price, I’d buy the whole case, keep two bottles and auction the rest.

Buffalo Trace is not allocated everywhere. BT and Eagle Rare are readily available at every Safeway, Target, etc.. near me. No idea why you’d seek that mediocre stuff out.
