I use one of these. I buy a big bag of limes at the beginning of the week and juice them all at once. Strain them into a squeeze bottle and put it in the fridge.

That way, when it’s time to make margaritas most of the work is already done. The juice is all gone by the end of the weekend.

Lived a few years in South America and still travel the area regularly. While most of my time was in Argentina, I did fall in love with a well made Brazillian caipirinha when it was hot muggy and miserable.

Like most well known, almost national drinks, everyone has their own twist. But, basic is best. It is simply lime, super fine sugar, and cachaça (a sugar cane liqour). It is great in that fashion.

But, add in some higher alcohol volume spiced rum, splash of soda water, and a dash of mint leaves and you get a delicious caipirinha/mojito hybrid that is all weather/all season but best in the summer heat. I call it the Che, and it's delicious.

Original caipirinha:

I make quite a few variations of a margarita, but this one is probably my favorite:

MARGARITA
Serves: 1

INGREDIENTS
3 OZ. TEQUILA
1 OZ. GRAND MARINER
1½ OZ. LIME JUICE
1 OZ. HONEY WATER (1 PART HONEY, 1 PART WATER)
LIME CIRCLE
GLASS TYPE: OLD-FASHIONED

INSTRUCTIONS
Add ice to your old-fashioned glass.
Add the tequila, lime juice and honey water to your shaker with ice.
Shake.
Pour shaken contents into your prepared glass.
Top with Grand Mariner.
Artfully place your lime circle on top.
Enjoy.
Make another.
Enjoy that one too.

I recently found a recipe for Ranch water I really like.

2 shots tequila.
1 shot lime juice.

Pour in glass with ice. Fill glass with carbonated water (I use topo Chico)

It’s margarita like but doesn’t have any bite and is super refreshing.

Thanks! That's one I've never run across but will definitely try to make it this summer. I dated a girl from Colombia for a while and got hooked on Aguardiente for a while, but had some recently and wondered what I was thinking.

I would love to find some freshly squeezed lime juice. I hate juicing limes - especially when I get a bad batch of them.

Where can you find 100% fresh lime juice?

Jewel, the grocery store chain in Chicago does fresh squeezed juices, and we always get lime and orange for our margs. I assume publix does too. Note: fresh lime is REALLY tart, which is why you need orange and agave nectar

you answered your own question. The things we do for love.

I similarly got hooked on Fernet y Colas (aka: fernet con coca) in Argentina. It is simply coke with Fernet-Branca over ice.

To say it is an acquired taste is to put it lightly. You really have to work at it to like it. Very herbal and bitter. The reaction with the coke causes a filmy head on the coke.

But, oddly enough, I found myself ordering them regularly within my first year there. I still occasionally pick up a bottle when I get a taste for it. And, everytime, I have the same "what was I thinking" moment.

It is an Italian liqour but Argentina and Uruguay consume over 75% of it globally. It's rough, but supposedly sophisticated. Much like my disdain for skotch, it is entirely possible my palate is simply unrefined. Fernet is a well known "bartender's handshake" at upscale bars.

The Zing-Zang all natural margarita mix is the best bottled mix out there. The only thing it is extremely sweet.

I'd just like to say frick you! I rarely drink hard alcohol, usually just beer. I made these a couple of weeks ago and got so fricked up, I passed out at a friend's and forgot to tell my wife where I was. I woke up at 4am on his couch and walked home. She was not happy!

Seriously they are delicious!
Round 2 today. We are gonna be in the pool all day drinking these with some friends. I'm gonna try to get them druuuunk.
