Ruffin, there was only one small hick up last night. I got the filet (like I always do) and ordered bearnaise sauce (like I always do). The waiter brought me bordelaise sauce. After I told him not to worry about it, he asked me what bearnaise sauce was. He was a great waiter (Jake was his name), took great care of us and the girls, but I just found it funny he didn't know what bearnaise sauce was.

BTW, I tipped the pizza bartender as well, but he tried to wave me off. I'm sure he gets tipped out from the waiters, but ppl don't tip him for the most part?

One more thing, I am the guy who returned Bert Jones' letterman jacket. I still want to get a copy of my "First Game in Tiger Stadium" pano picture in your restaurant.

Did you just really call out your waiter to his boss on here by name ? After he dealt with you and your birthday party ?

I don't think he's really calling him out. I think these are good things to know as an owner/mgr. A reminder of the need to continually educate your service staff IMO. I like to know these things.

It's not really called him out, I'm sure he knows who waited on me last night anyway. He was a great waiter and carried my party of 11, another party of 7, a party of 5, and a two top with ease. The mistake on the sauce was the only mistake, he thought I said bordelaise, not bearnaise.

Hope Melvin (Driver) took care of the girls. Little girl birthday parties are probably my favorite of the uses for the Limo Van. Seeing the joy that the get is awesome. I can't wait till my 2 year old daughter comes of age and asks me if she and her friends can do the same. I'm so glad your daughter had her special day turn out so great Antique!! I'll be back in BR tonight, stop by and have a drink on me.

Thanks Ruff. I'm not sure if you read the entire thread, but this was the second time we've done this party, both were great.

I'm sorry if I devalued your restaurant for bringing in kids. I may have caused your number one customer (TheBeard), who eats there 40+ times a year, to never come back.

Hold on now. We were told by someone on this forum, who name dropped you and eats at your establishment 4 times a week, that you would be appalled to think your restaurant is becoming popular with diners bringing their children for a bday meal!

Have we been led astray by an "OT Baller"?

Ruffino's has been my favorite BR place for years, i think the b'day party is a great idea. It is of great benefit to expose children to a nice restaurant as often and as soon as possible. They learn how to behave, what goes on, they see other people enjoying themselves and the benefits of using big people manners.

Ruffino's is the perfect kind of place for this, good food, informal but refined, a little noisy and the limousine ride must be a lot of fun. If my granddaughters lived in BR I love to do this. Not sure at what age you can do this with a pack of wild little boys, that might be different.

After reading this thread, my old neighbor is lining up an end of the season party at Ruffino's for his T-Ball team .. He's getting the limo to pick them all up after their last game ..
