Opinions vary!

Try some Taco Bandito and Ernestos Mexican as well

I ate at both Cotton and Warehouse last week.

Cotton- don't understand the hype but maybe I got them on a bad day. Had the crab and crawfish cakes and I swear they tasted like the frozen variety. Hard, fried battered cakes that smelled and tasted fishy. Maybe one or two very small crawfish in each one. The hollandaise was really thick and looked like honey mustard- not great.
Warehouse- again, nothing great. Had the corn and shrimp chowder and it was lukewarm. If anything, the damn soup had better come out hot. Had a grilled shrimp poboy and chips and the poboy had maybe six/seven medium sized shrimp on it. It was OK.

Really disappointing if this is the best Monroe has to offer.

I don't see that on Cotton's menu.

El Josey Wales and I used to never leave for a weekend at the camp without a pan of their beans. Nothing like floating off of a porch and pouring Danken Trail beans down your goozle.

I have returned from an overextended visit to the Mecca. This was not a food trip, so very few decent meals were had. Nothing to do with the Mecca's offerings, but rather with timing and the nature of the trip. Ate sugarfree snowballs at the ballpark for several meals.

I did finally make it to Johnny's. This one was on Desiard. Got a sausage, onion and pepper pizza. Ingredients were fresh. I like the cheese they use. HATE the way they cut those pizzas. I asked for a pie cut, but still got those awful strips. As far as flavor, it was good. The crust was only crispy on the outer parts. The center wasn't cripsy or even browned all the way which was disappointing. Had some leftover. Heated is in the oven on about 275 with the door open. Crust was crispy just the way I like it. Had the crust been more crispy and browned, I'd give it a solid 8.5. Get the take and bake and get your crust crispy. Otherwise, it's a soggy pizza with quality ingredients.

Had lunch at the Waterfront Grill. I like the place. It's casual and on the water, so there's a nice view if you sit where you can see the windows. Had the cup of gumbo. Not my favorite. Roux is too light, had okra, very small shrimp and big hunks of fish I assume to be catfish. I don't like fish in my gumbo. It was sort of okay, but I left the fish. Wouldn't order it again. Shared the grilled crabcake app. They were mush with grill marks. Didn't even taste good. The sauce was strange...maybe a combo of white remoulaude and tartar. Not good. Had the bbq shrimp entree. The salad before hand was nice and fresh. Nothing special, but good. I was hungry having left most of the apps, so it was welcome. The shrimp were a decent size, peeled in sauce, so not traditional, but the sauce was very tasty. I'd order that again. Had grilled asparagus for my side. They where the pencil thin and didn't really work well grilled, but were okay. Dining companion had the 6 oz filet. It was very good as was the stuffed potato that came with it. Shared bread pudding. WAY too heavy and way too much cinnamon. It was like a cinnamon brick. Only had a few bites. We left that. I'd return, but I would order differently with the exception of the shrimp. I'm not a fan of baked catfish, so I didn't take the advice and order the baked catfish special.

Ate lunch at Lea's of Lecompte. Had ham sandwiches, of course, and recognized that signature flavor of the Lea's sandwiches I've had in Lecompte. So simple, but so good. This Lea's serves chicken and sausage gumbo, so we got a cup since the waitress deemed it awesome. It was indeed very good. Could have used a darker roux, but I enjoyed the flavor. Just your basic gumbo with no foreign flavors the way I like it. Coconut pie was good. We shared that and I only had a little of it. Oh, and they also serve fresh cut fries which were very good. I'd return to that Lea's in a heartbeat. Brought some of the gumbo home. Having it tonight for a second taste test.

Sugarfree strawberry snowballs at ULM were excellent. Extra crispy corndog at the Sonic on 165 sucked.

That is all.
