Me too. I really wanted to go to Cotton. The whole trip was crazy with schedule changes and weather issues and a lot of waiting on standby. Ended up at the ULM ballpark until nearly 1:30 am on Monday night/Tuesday morning. Unbelievable. If things had been different, I would have met you and OG for few too many.

I've not been there, sad to say. I'll go try a cup for lunch and see how I like it. The place seems to do a pretty good breakfast and lunch business.

Roux is too light, had okra, very small shrimp and big hunks of fish I assume to be catfish. I don't like fish in my gumbo. It was sort of okay, but I left the fish.

Actually it's pork.

Had hash browns with my sandwich. They were very good as were the fresh cut fries. Saw someone with a plate lunch and it looked good. Standard breakfast offerings on the menu, but I like a good old standard breakfast.

They make some savory pies on the menu, but you have to order 24 hours in advance. One was a chicken and artichoke. The other was a Natchitoches meat pie, but as a whole pie and I think there was a shepherd's pie. Might have been one more. Curious about those since the one in Lecompte is know for the pies. I like them because they aren't overly sweet and I like the old fashioned crust they make.

What's a bunch of big old chunks of pork doing in a seafood gumbo? It tasted like fish. I guess that was because of the liquid in which it was cooked. Whatever it was, it wasn't very good gumbo.

Idk. Only place I've ever been that has pork and shrimp gumbo. I pick out the okra, but I like it. Guess some do and some don't.

I like okra, fried and with tomatoes, but not in gumbo. Don't like the texture change or the flavor.

I went for the food not the politics. I couldn't tell their political persuasion, but the food was damn good.

I thought about that the minute I bit into that NOT CRUNCHY corndog. If I'd had the time to go to RayVegas, I'd have gone to Cotton.

It's a very good burger, but Dylan's has the best cheeseburger in the area. It's not close really imo. Double cheeseburger from Dylan's...try it next time you're here.
