Derrels in Jennings is quick and awesome. Yeah yeah deli meats whatever, the Special is well…special. Get the jalapeño mayo.

Timing is relevant here. That’s about a two hour drive. If you’re near the interstate in Jennings, Darrell’s is good but the plate lunch options in Jennings are better. Green’s cafe’s burger or plate lunch is solid, Rocket Drive Inn…. If you’re closer to Kinder Roy’s is good, Elton has S&W right on 26 and is hard to beat. Lots of options. Chef Roy’s in Rayne, Fezzo’s in Crowley.

The Crawfish Shack in Oberlin has Po'boys and a really good burger along with plate lunches.

And if you get there after 11:30 or so expect to be waiting 30+ minutes for a table too.

Uncle Ts in Scott
Can get to downtown Lafayette pretty easy too, Central Pizza, Spoonbill, Hideaway on Lee are all solid lunch spots.

This.

All great options listed in this thread, better than some deli sandwich with spicy mayo unless you’re having to eat while driving.

And even at that, S&W like you mentioned can fill that need too.

Double agree. Best seafood gumbo in the 337 IMO. Coldest beer around as well.

Nothing better. I've never left disappointed. Their Étouffée alone is worth a trip from DeRidder even it is in the wrong direction.

Fried shrimp poboy with a small shrimp & crab gumbo on the side was always my go-to.

Rocket Drive Inn

Unfortunately, the last two times we’ve had Rocket Inn burgers, they just weren’t the same as past years.

Hell, since OP is coming from DeRidder to get to Lafayette, he/she can stay on 190 to LA 97, head South, then East on LA 91 into Iota and get a damn good burger at Snack Shack.

On top of all that has been mentioned Cest Bon also has the best boiled shrimp on the planet and probably the best restaurant boiled crawfish. It's a real gem.

If you want to get in and get out…. Nonc Kevs in Rayne has some good stuff too. It’s right off the interstate and his boudin is pretty good.

If you are going downtown, Pop's and Johnson's are also very good.

I have heard good things about their boiled crabs as well.
