Not looking to dine in. Got one at Poboy Express the other day. It was pretty good.

Is Spanish Town Market open? They used to have a really good one IIRC

People keep bringing up Elsie's as having the best kept secret poboys. Considering almost everything else from there is great, it's worth a shot.

I'm a fan of Heads and Tails Seafood poboys

Never heard of Heads n Tails. I'll have to drop by whenever I'm in the area.

Jed's is a great choice
Spanish town market is still closed
Po boy express is horrible...I can make a much better one at home...don't understand the love for this place at all

For being an hour away from Nola and 45 mins from Lafayette, BR does not do poboy's well at all. Never has.

The guy that owns JED’s used to work for Commander’s Palace and had his own restaurant in NOLA - so he knows where it’s at!
His stuff at the other restaurant, Eliza, is pretty good too.

I had a very good oyster poboy there a few weeks back.

Their fried seafood is very good. So are their french fries.

Tony's makes my favorite shrimp poboy. The catfish is good too.

Rocco’s has good poboys.

I believe this bad reputation is caused by a few baton rouge staples having laughably bad po’boys:
Po’boy express
Poor Boy Loyd’s
Brewbachers
The Pastime
These places all suck at making po’boys and have been around forever. I have never had a po'boy from any other establishment in this town which I would consider subpar.
Heck, even the much maligned Walk-On’s makes an absolutely fantastic shrimp po’boy.
