If you are against walking, you could always take the Loyola St street car for $1.25 to Canal St and all the way down to Harrahs.

Gonna cost you $2.50 for a one way trip. Or pay for a transfer.

Just get the all day pass for $3

Had Peche last week. It's was fantastic. Can't wait to go again to try more dishes.

FQ has some of the worst restaurants in New Orleans and a few good ones.

A "few"?

GW Fin's, Irene's, Galatoire's, Brennan's, Sylvain, Trinity, R'evolution, Bayona, Tableau, Italian Barrel, Doris Metropolitan, Felix's, Amelie, K Paul's, Kingfish, Meauxbar, and probably a "few" I'm forgetting.

Those restaurants on their own would be a top 25 food city in the US.

That is a great list and I can think of a lot more that are not on it. There are an uncountable number of fabulous restaurants in the French Quarter. There are some bad ones too but most locals know how to avoid the tourist traps. As much of a hassle as it is these days to go to the Quarter, I go there often because that is where most of the great restaurants are.

Dont go to Borgne when Peche and GW's are within a mile.

Meril's

You would have to be pretty picky to not enjoy Meril. They have a big menu with something for everyone. Drinks are good, the atmosphere is nice. Just an all around "safe" choice

We were in Meril a couple weeks ago and have enjoyed it a few times.

But if I’m the op looking for seafood I’m starting with Peche. Man that place is great.

And the above FQ list is nice - I haven’t been to K Paul’s in a couple years but have to say as simple as it can be it’s good. Just the blackened fish and a cup of gumbo is hard to beat.

Peche remains at the top of my list. I really enjoy it.

I haven’t been to Meril yet.

What would be your pick for Italian around the FQ? Wife and I are staying at the Windsor and need a place Friday night. I want seafood and she's wants Italian, so Italian it is.

Is Marcellos any good? I have heard mixed reviews.

I've been once and it was very good, but that was 8-10 months ago

Just looked at the menu and think that will be perfect for her. Thank you for the suggestions!

If you want to double check with some more opinions, I would suggest starting a new thread.

We really enjoyed the Italian Barrel in April. I'm looking forward to going back. There are some seafood and fish offerings. I had a wonderful scallop appetizer and someone else had the mussels. The menu changes a bit and I believe the scallop dish was a special that day. The restaurant is small so if you're interested, call right away.

I know there was a website for it, but it appears to be gone. You can see some photos on Trip Advisor and Yelp. Here's TA. LINK

By the way, the lunch special at the Windsor Court is WONDERFUL and is served on Saturday if you're interested.

What the menu doesn't tell you is that you get a lovely amuse after you're seated and a trio of sorbets for dessert. You don't have to pick 3 different sides. For example, I got two cups of gumbo and some asparagus the last time I was there, I believe. The gumbo is very good. There's a martini bar and I think those are a dollar or two a piece. Ice tea is like 5 bucks or something, though. I try to eat lunch there if I can work it out every time I stay at the Windsor Court.

Thank you Gris. Never stayed at the Windsor but looking forward to it. Have heard great things about the drinks and food in the hotel.

These are the three I would recommend. Marcello's is closer to the hotel, and I consider it slightly better though the other two are also very good.

I love staying there. The folks are really nice and friendly. I've never stayed in a regular room or on the club floor, but friends say they are all nice. I stay in a suite when I'm there. I like all the space.
