Going to reverse sear for the first time tonight, couple questions

How big and thick should I get for a ribeye? 3 or 4 people will be eating, and having leftovers is fine with me, so how big one would it have to be for that many people to eat on one steak?
Also, anyone try it with a filet?
Plan on just salt and lot of black pepper, maybe a touch of garlic powder
Thanks in advance

Where are you going to find a 3 lb ribeye? If you do, let me know.
Wait, and you want leftovers? Get a 5 lb one. Maybe 6 inches thick?

Yes. works just fine.

no need. Salt and pepper is enough

That was last weekend. Ate lots of mediocre food.

QTC: If you are in BR, meet me at the Whole foods meat counter in 30. I'm wearing a yellow polo. I'll help you out.

I wasn't expecting a 3 pound ribeye , douchebag. Not everyone needs a pound of meat for their share, unless you are a fattie at the cruise line buffet Thanks for the helpful answer.
To others thanks,
Motorboat, if I was leaving work at regular time I would meet you as its on the way home but left the office early so no can do, thanks for the offer

I think you'll need more than one steak to feed that many people, cut thick, at least 1 1/2 inches thick. I'd go with 2 inches each, myself, and if you want leftovers, get 3.

I thought this was going to be a reverse sear question. You get the same amount of steak for 3 or 4 people whether you are reverse searing or not. You need help with how many potatoes to get?

Feeding three or four people with one steak? That's
I'd say, just buy the biggest one you can find.

I think you failed to see the humor in his response

You want a single ribeye to feed 4 people with leftovers per your post. Have fun.

The answer to that question is obvious: One giant potato for everyone to share.

Two 2 inch thick ribeyes will feed 5 if sliced and served family style. A 2 inch ribeye will weigh about 2 lbs.

Look for something about this big

How'd it turn out? Mine came out great if I'd only been able to eat it. Baby went apeshit and I didn't even get dinner. Have an entire dry aged ribeye in the fridge.

I'd like some picks of this 5 lb reverse sear ribeye as well.
