What is your go to charcoal brand and type and wood type for smoking a turkey?

I'm thinking of going applewood charcoal briquettes with applewood chunks this year.

Do y'all use the same wood and charcoal? I have been using like Hickory charcoal almost every time. Does it make a difference with charcoal?

We've got a ton of white oak around here, and I use it for everything; either that or cherry/pecan. I would think any fruit or non-fruit but still mild wood would do well with poultry.

Stubbs briquettes from Lowes (only place I see them). I use blue bag Kingsford for burgers and simple grilling, but I spring for the Stubbs for long or special cooks.

I like cherry for smoking birds, for flavor and mahogany color. But a little hickory mixed in gives it that traditional smoke flavor.
