While we're talking about canning, I think Tin Roof is supposed to can Juke Joint this year. I thought it was pretty solid when fresh (although I might be in the minority), so hopefully they can tweak it a little for this year and have a solid local IPA in a can.

Looks shitty imo. I wouldnt want to put out that product if i was a brewery. The minimum can order is ridiculous though.

Remember that one time they did a Bomber release of ICS? and they used to do the fridge packs? crazy huh? Not being sarcastic but it just seems like a different time back then.
Go back and look at the best beer in Louisiana threads. Wow how things have changed.

I thought the aftertaste tasted like corn chips. I wasnt a fan.

That's kinda how I feel about it. It just looks second class.
But I'm willing to overlook it if the product is good.

Yeah, I'll be curious how this turns out. I though it was pretty solid fresh, but fell off quickly.

I thought the same thing... like super quickly. Maybe they can fix that this year.

I'm sure the downside of canning your beer is the inability to do special releases, unless you do the can wrap label.
I think The Alchemist uses blank silver cans and sticker labels for their special releases....

The one special release they did?

Not sure if I said this the other day, but I'm not sure Andrew will ever can. At least that's what our conversation came off as the other day.
He cares too much about quality. And bottles are more consistent with quality it seems.
That's just what I took from our conversation

One release and two beers...
Which is two more special release cans than NOLA and one more than Tin Roof.
Point being if you want to special release in cans there are ways...

eta: using stickers makes special releases easier.

Well this thread really took off.

Good call. I like SoPro's strategy of using the same can for the seasonal releases and having a sticker for each one. I didn't even realize it was a sticker until I got home from the store.

I don't think NOLA could keep up with packaging limited speciality beers. I think they would have to cut out some of the one off stuff they are doing if they did. I like being able to go to the tap room and always have something new to try. Also being located in New Orleans helps with getting these one off beers in they hands of many outsiders. In addition to the one off tap room beers they are doing a 5th Ann white IPA and a Tbois IPA. Guys are working around the clock.

So pro can is misleading. Its a cool printed can already, with a small sticker, not the same. I think those ccb cans look kinda tacky, again, its the product inside that counts. But i understand why a brewery wouldnt want to put cans like those on the shelves for the average consumer to buy.

I merely need to go down the street to the store to get a Parish one off beer. I have to go to the NOLA taproom to get any of their one offs. While I agree there's something to be said for having a bunch of one offs at the taproom, what about those people in NOLA's distribution footprint that can't get them?
Yeah they're doing a 5th Anniversary White IPA with Galaxy hops. But I won't see that one here in BR.

My point is aesthetically its not the same. A cool can with a sticker isnt the same as a can with plastic shrink wrapped around it. The so pro can looks great and is a great way to do a seasonal ipa imo. A piece of plastic wrapped around a blank can looks tacky imo.
