French Quarter/WHD Friday lunch

Getting in early Friday next week for the Saints game. What are some non-tourist slop spots to drink and eat with a good atmosphere for a few hours? Ideally seafood. Doing big dinners Friday and Saturday so looking for something more casual.

We are still waiting for that delayed brunch meet up with stout. I would avoid Peche. We can talk about reasons for our protest over brunch. For a casual meal, we enjoy Napoleon House.
I confess that I have never quite understood the New Orleans Food Board contingent’s habit of abandoning certain institutions of genuine provenance, such as NH or Mothers, or even the infinitely venerable Tom Fitzmorris, for whatever fashionable boite has most recently been anointed by the glitterati, particularly when the Napoleon House, such a memorable and faintly melancholic old house whose very walls have absorbed two centuries of French Quarter rumor and gospel, has, under the stewardship of the Brennan family, undergone such a remarkable and painstaking renaissance that its present neglect strikes me as an indictment of our declining gastronomic culture on the Food Board, in which people will rave and queue breathlessly for the newest fashionable address while dismissing a place possessing the rarer commodities of history, atmosphere, memory, and a legitimacy that cannot be manufactured by either an architect or a publicist.

When I can’t go to Galatoire’s or Commander’s Palace, the Windsor Court Grill Room has become my go to place for a nice lunch. They have a good lunch special. Four tapas size dishes for about $38. And drink specials.
