There's a ton of good stuff on there

Nori Guys had some legit stuff last year.

Afrodisiac Jerk Boudin Balls

Jack Dempsey's Soft Shell Crab and baked mac

Voleo's Smothered Rabbit Poboy

Fritai BBQ Passionfruit Wings

Sun Chong Gumbo Dumplings

Ajun Cajun Yakiniku Poboy

Cochon King brisket bomb

Just some of the out of the ordinary stuff. Tons of traditional stuff too, and places like Jacque-Imo's, Revolution, Broussards, etc all have booths

I was the catering director at the Royal Orleans when Sandra Dartus started the FQF; we did a rib room prime rib sandwich that first year and every year after that while I was there. Back then the festival was just in Jackson Square. It was lots of fun and not too crowded but the current FQF is a world class event that is head and shoulders better than it ever was

I've never been, but after looking at that lineup I'm already making plans for next year.

Its a great festival throughout the FQ (and beyond really) with lots of live music stages and food booths and drinks. And attending is free

It used to be much smaller and much more local, now I do have to say, it is very crowded and can be a total shitshow.

I still enjoy it for what it is though. With the weather this year being great it will be extra crowded but more enjoyable

Some years it is nuclear hot

I don’t usually go anymore because getting down there and parking is a galactic hassle but if you are so inclined it’s the best festival in the area. Compared to trashy shitshows like the strawberry festival (also this weekend) it’s a night and day difference

Had the spicy tuna sushi taco yesterday for lunch. Top notch. Not sure how they make the "shell," but it melts in your mouth.

They're also regulars at Wednesdays at the Square.

Yep.

Baked mac from Jack Dempseys best in the city.

The beef or collard green Sambusa are like crack. From Addis.

FQF really started with humble beginnings but locals bought in and it exploded. First year or two wasnt uncommon to see a band set up on a corner rocking their arse off and nobody watching.

Glad the weather is cooperating.

I feel the same way about red dress run. Both FQF and red dress run were better and more enjoyable experiences 15 years ago.

Oh yeah. And its a lot of fun to be on the front end of something that is just getting off the ground. Gives you ownership.

But its still a fun time if you dont let the crowd size get you down. I have friends on Esplanade and in the Quarter that open their home up and cook so its a good vibe. Pregame then hit the Quarter.

Honestly dont do a lot of Mardi Gras anymore, if you live in NO its just too much. But we never miss this one, have friends and relatives that come in to play. FQF then a recovery week and run the Classic. Fun weekends in the city.

Looks like most of the old line folks have abandoned Jackson Square and the fest. Don't see Galatoires, Antoines, Muriels, Paul Prudhommes(I know they closed a few years back, but they were a staple in the Square), Trey Yen, Haydel's. Tujaques is still there, but without the boiled brisket. Lots of places I have never heard of.
