I wish there was a poll function. I prefer the steaks at Ruth's if anyone is counting.

There are about 130 Chris' including quite a few international locations. Flemings is less than half that.

Ruth is dead and they moved the corporate headquarters to Winter Park, Florida.

Take that for what it's worth.

I prefer the strip at Flemings and they have a much better wine list.

Ruth's is the standard, plain and simple. We did Fleming's for a while, and now have moved back to Ruth's. Fleming's is good, but there is a certain vibe at Ruth's that can't be duplicated.

I didn't get upset at Ruth's moving the headquarters. I'd have probably moved, as well.

They still have a number of restaurants in LA and have opened yet another one in NO since Katrina. They employ people in our state. That makes a difference to me, in addition to the fact that I love the steaks, sides and service. Ate there with my two young nieces last month. The waiter was terrific. He made it a lot of fun for them. Even the night manager came around a few times and gave them the giggles.

I don't care at all. The steak is still good.

I don't mind the steak. I prefer Flemings but I won't cry if I have to go to Ruth's.

I was pointing to the comment regarding it being a New Orleans chain and Flemings being much larger.

They both employ many Louisiana people.

Flemings is a huge chain across the country. Ruth's is a chain too but at least it started in new orleans

And Paul Fleming (PF Chang and Flemings) is from Lafayette. What does that have to do with the OP?

No mention of Sullivan's? I don't eat steak when I go out, but I thought Sullivan's was better than Flemings in the 225 magazine, both under RC.

I've never been the Fleming's, but I like the atmosphere at Sullivan's better than RC. Plus the lobster bisque is unbelievable!!!

Love them both, but I prefer Fleming's. Try to get one of the half circle booths if you can. Its a little cozier. You'll still get the vibe from the restaurant. You can't really miss with either choice.

Not even close, Flemmings and Ruth are neck and neck depending on what you want, Flemmings has a younger more progressive feel to it and IMHO better sides and desserts, RC is more old fashioned, a little quieter and has better steaks, both are top notch

Sullivans has cute waitresses

I like the steaks at Ruth's Chris a lot better. Can't beat RC's Ribeye on a hot plate with melted butter.

225 Magazine doesn't mean shite in restaurant conversation.

And like someone else said, Sullivan's was serving Choice grade meat at Prime prices.

Reading an interview with Paul Fleming currently.

quote:

GT: Before you began Fleming’s with co-founder Bill Allen in 1998, you cut your steak chops with Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, licensing the concept in Arizona, California and Hawaii. What were the most memorable things you learned from restaurateur Ruth Fertel?

PF: Ruth used to say a meat salesman will know there’s 16 ounces in a pound when he can roll over in his grave. In other words, be vigilant, check your bills, oversee your checks going out. Buy the highest quality, never the cheapest. Keep it simple. And remember you’re in the food, not bar business.

PF Chang's was his collaboration with Phillip Chang.

oh and..

quote:

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in New Orleans
impressed Fleming and eventually, he obtained the development rights in California,
Arizona, and Hawaii. Opening his first restaurant in Beverly Hills in 1984, Fleming
operated Ruth's Chris Steakhouses for 12 years.

morton's always turns me off due to the ridiculously high prices of their steaks.
