Anybody here tried it?

It's expensive, but looks really nice. It has a polished surface, and angles for pouring. I may be getting some for Christmas.

ETA: pics at bottom of page 1.

Finex

Butterpat

Cheaper than butterpat, but butterpat has their own foundry. Finex says it’s poured by American hands, but that’s it... leaves it kind of vague and says assembled in Portland.

I’m sure they are good.... I’ve been teeming the butterpat as I know someone who has some real life experiences with them. But, shite they are expensive

I just bought a grill pan and a "10 skillet w/lid.

I was at the Tillamook Cheese factory, of all places and they had them on sale. The grill pan was @105 and the skillet w/lid was $155. Not cheap, but much cheaper than I expected.

Haven't tried it. $200 for a skillet is nuts though. I don't know why these companies only make skillets and no pots.

Not bad for those...

Can’t tell Mrs Fest how much this shite cost.
She already hates trying to move the cast iron around in the cabinet and the stove.

Good lord, those prices are ridiculous. You can get thick copper for cheaper.

Yup. They’re expensive, they do everything in house pretty much to order. Which is probably why. At least I guess that’s why.

What makes these better than Lodge?

I get that. Still though, manufacturing cast iron pans is very cheap compared to manufacturing most cookware.

The process to polish cast iron is pretty labor intensive. This stuff is totally kitchen eye candy.

Their price

Seriously though, I don't think a properly seasoned and maintained Lodge can be beat.

Yeh... it’s the labor that goes into that side of things is where the cost comes if bet. That’s all hand done. Also... they don’t have some major foundry pouring/casting for them. I assume them doing it increases the cost a good bit as well even though it’s considered an inexpensive process.

The handle on the Butter Pat seems really short, and I might expect my pot holder to get too close to the flame or worse yet, my thumb. Comments?

The OP's cast iron 12 in pot costs $195 and a same size Lodge is around $25. I can't justify the price difference just because it's hexagonal.

It’s not just cause it’s hexagonal

You can buy a cheap angle grinder from Harbor Freight for $14 plus some grinding and sanding wheels for another $10. Even taking in to account the value of my time, it's a better deal to DIY a smooth skillet. I understand not everyone wants to do that, so I'm not knocking Jax for buying one. They do look pretty nice.

This is ground down real smooth.

The grilling pan is cool. Never had one before.

The handle is supposed to stay cool longer.

And we got 2 of these nifty coffee mugs thrown in...
