How is this a PRO? If anything, add this to your list of CONS. Because the burger is "HUGE" and you get a "crapload" of fries for $12, the only way to justify paying that much for a burger and fries is to try to eat it all, thus consuming about 1500-2000 calories in one sitting. Congrats.

So you would consider a small burger a "PRO"?

You're a special kind of genius.

I guess I missed the sign on the wall that said everything had to be consumed at one time, or that sharing the fries isn't allowed.

You'd think large portion size for a higher priced meal would be a good thing.

My biggest gripe the first time I went to Five Guys was that if you have never been , you don't know that the "little hamburger" would be enough. And how would you know? Their menu says nothing. I'm not a fan of places that don't give an accurate description. At any other burger joint, I know that the "junior" burger is not very big, so I ordered the regular the first time I went to Five Guys. The regular was two patties (yuck, I don't like double meat.. TWSS).

Just call one a double patty and one a single patty.

It's like Twin Peaks: "Do you want the man size or girl size?" They emasculate you into always getting the bigger one.

Yea, I've definitely fallen into this trap

But I'm usually there with my wife and we just end up splitting the burger with some mac and cheese or other side.

For the beers though, of course I always want the man size.

I wish everyone knew it's just a burger. I've eaten there about 6 times. 3 were pretty good, 3 kinda meh but regardless it's still just a burger.

How many bad burgers have each and everyone posting in this thread had in their lifetime? I'm guessing a bunch and probably a bunch that cost just as much. Still eating burgers though.

I don't complain about a bad bottle of wine because you have to drink some bad bottles to get to and enjoy the good ones.

And I'm not an Esquire fan, however if that was Ebony or Jet I would put more stock in it. And correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that a Steak and Shake in Mandeville off I-12? Because THAT place was bad.

Now next time at Five Guys try the hot dog.

Lighten up people. You no likey, you no eatie.

And I would hope by now CIT's is not as chapped and leaking down his britches so he is able to digest a decent meal. If not by now CIT you might want to call one of those fleet of doctors in the family. Hope one's a gastro.

I have had the same problem when buying the family size frozen lasagna. It's probably around 5,000 calories, and I'm pretty much done for the night afterwards.

I just couldn't justify spending the money anymore, so I stop buying them.

Last time I went there, the waitress asked if I wanted man size or girl size. I said I wanted a pint, she said "sooo..girl size then?" I groaned and said "yes" She said "for a big man like you? Are you suuuure?" Hated that so much. It's a stupid policy.

Based on my 1 experience at the Elmwood location, I'd never go back. That's mainly based on the price for what you get. It's a mediocre burger, lousy fries, a long wait for service at a ridiculous price.

I'm all in with Cit on this one.

Five Guys started popping up in the SE at a time when that type of restaurant concept was relatively new to the region. At least for burgers. "Gourmet fast food" I guess you could call it. I think that's why people still rave over it. It's alright. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but I wouldn't argue if a group wanted to go there. Average burgers and a little overpriced.
