Sierra Nevada Porter is pretty good, I don't think it has a lot of coffee flavor though

Some Porters, like Real Ale Coffee Porter are made with coffee

Maui has a coconut porter that's fantastic too

Hell I thought it was a seasonal. That makes me smile.

Will Houston have Deep Ellum?

I have not tried that one in years, but it should be good. Most porters and stouts are going to have chocolate and coffee flavors that come from the roasting malts/grains. Some beers are actually brewed with coffee, but I don't think the SN Porter is one of them.

Then you would love this Anderson Valley IPA. They are similar beers IMO.

Dang, any other Texas Brews I can find there?

I want to load up on Jester King, get some Rodeo Karbach, and Gubna. What's another Real Ale must try?

Kim it would be cool if you could post an occasional Beer education series of posts on here for folks who are sticking their toe in the water of new beer discovery.

Haha--i was typing that from Finnegans. They are great people and doing the best with what they're given. Seems as though they are heavily handicapped by distributors.

Same with Hocus.

The Real Ale Lost gold IPA is good for a single IPA...

They make a Belgian Trippel called "Devil's backbone" which is good if you like that style. I recommend letting it warm for 20 minutes before drinking and it is really good then.

Their Coffee Porter is fantastic on a cold day

Gonzales.. so pretty much. I figure I can plan on making a beer run once a week or so. I usually head to BR once a week to meet up with friends anyway.

Many of the guys know so much more than I do--especially some of the guys that brew. I just know what I like. Lots of good info in these threads though, which is what it is all about.
