What's the deal with another release of black note stout? Pleased to find some at Cuban, looking forward to cracking one.

The rep told me about a month ago to expect to see more bottles in the market. Allocation math was hard, or something like that.

NBD - Matryoshka by Ft George. Got interrupted by the doorbell and didn't take a pic.

This is an RIS aged in 4 Roses barrels. This is an outstanding beer and is right up there with the best in this style, IMO.

Old pic from last week.

ETA: Fort George will be serving several variants of this at the FoDA next month. I probably won't be able to make it.

see this is where i'm lost, it makes mt think that people that like the NE hazy dont really care for "real" IPA's but not sure if thats fair
i love that turbid look but also think clear(er) beer to be more aesthetically appealing

Those in love with the NE IPAs are fruity beer drinkers. Take that how you wish.

But seriously, I think those who strictly like the NE style but not the WC style (I have a buddy who always hated IPAs, but now enjoys Ghost, Bloom and Envie) don't like the IPA styles where the hops punch you in the mouth. They want something a bit more suttle, where even if the IBUs are high, the OJ style twist softens the blow.

Personally, I enjoy both styles, and to be honest, on a hot arse day, the NE style tends to go down smoother. When the weather cools, I tend to prefer a dankier style.

At the end of the day, having both styles in my fridge makes me happy. Unfortunately, my experience with NE style is pretty much limited to the Parish and Whole Foods stuff, with a brew from CO a FBDer brought me.

from your comments i think Sip of Sunshine would be right in your wheelhouse, also i'd say that Alchemist is different enough than Treehouse/Trillium as well. More forward bitterness and no as softness on the palate.

shoot me an email i'll get some NE goodness

this was my girlfriend. She tipped her toes in a few IPAs before but now loves Devil's Harvest, Envie, ect

Her brother, pickiest MF on the planet, tried DH the other day and was all about the new "orange flavored beer"

I didn't have the heart to tell him it was a hoppy beer that he claims to hate.

They and Half Acre are doing awesome in Chicago.

Pipeworks doesn't lack for distribution around the city, but did just open a "bottle shop" (more just a counter and couple coolers) at their brewery.

Half Acre has a 60,000 Sq. Foot facility in Ravenswood that should be fully-open this summer.

Only people who aren't pussies...

This has been a weird winter. Cold AF, and we've had snow on the ground since Wednesday, and hardly any of it has melted. We are supposed to get up to an inch of ice tonight, as freezing rain is moving in tonight. Then it's supposed to warm up and turn to regular old rain later this week. It really sucks, but we, here in Oregon, do not use umbrellas. If you use an umbrella, you're a pussy and probably from California.

I've noticed that in most places with shitty, rainy weather people are too depressed TGAF.
