I’m always looking for new ones to try out. Will choose a cab 90% of the time. What are some of yalls go to wines $30-$40 and $40-$90?

I could make a list a mile long. It all depends upon what you like.
Under $50, I love Darioush Caravan (a cab), Red Schooner (a malbec by Caymus), Textbook (a cab), to name a few. All of these should be available at your local liquor store or well-stocked grocery store in La
Under $100, I would pick Quintessa Faust Pact or Silver Oak (both cab's), anything from Puligny-Montrachet (especially Louis Jadot) (chardonnay's), Le Pich, anything from Hall's, like Jack's Masterpiecea and 1873, (except Kathryn Hall (out of this price range) (cab's) or Joseph Phelps (a cab).
Over $100, Chateau Palmer from Margaux (about $350) - a cab blend, anything from Peter Michael (cab's and chardonnay's). Peter Michael's chardonnay's will be the best one you have every had, Quintessa Rutherford (about $175), Kathryn Hall, Chateau Margaux, Chataus Mouton-Rothschild (about $900+), Colgin (about $600 retail) or Lewis Cellars (cabs).
We drink a really good cab every Saturday night with a great filet. Tonight, we had Quintessa Faust Pact. Phenomenal.
Get the Vivino app on your phone and take pictures of the labels in the liquor store and you will see average prices and ratings. Normally, anything over a 4.0 rating is usually very good. If you can find something that is under $30 and 4.0 rating or higher, you hit the jackpot on value wine and I would buy and try it. Cheers!!!

Smoking Loon cab sav. under $6 a bottle, it was on sale for $5 per for a few months. I use it mostly for cooking, but it's fine for drinking. rated 3.6 on your app.

There are so many good wines in the $40-$90 range. Decide what you want to try and do a little research. The choices are endless in that price range.

Yeah, there are a ton. Any specific ones that stand out to you? F&D board is my research. Strange as it may seem, recommendations from here hold more weight to me than random “best wine” articles online.

Penley Estates Phoenix Cabernet.
This is a top-notch Cabernet and it's usually only $20

Mount Veeder Cabernet (~$34)
Tenuta del portale vigne capano (~$24)
Wines from the Mt Etna region (various)
I tend to focus on regions. Once you find a region you like you can typically find a few good options at various price points. If you are sucker like me for Napa mountain cabs (or any other well known region) it can be harder to find at the lower end. But if you go to total wine or similar spot they can point you in the right direction.
To piggy back off the app suggestion, some good advice I received was to find a reviewer who you agree with or have similar tastes and follow them.

I like Daou for around $20, Sequoia Grove for around $35, and Groth for around $50. Silver Oak in the $75-125 range if I'm feeling fancy.
This from someone with a very limited knowledge of wines.

What type of wine do you like? I like Cabernet but it certainly isn’t my favorite wine. If you can narrow it down a little I could probably be of more help.
I would explore Pinot Noir. Barolo. Brunello do Montalcino and some entry level Super Tuscans. With Pinot Noir you can go California, Oregon and of course France (Burgundy).
If you have a Total Wine they carry Renieri Brunello which fits your price point and would give you a good entry into Sangiovese.
