I wish I had been able to try more than the last pint my buddy saved for me of their keg of LM Southern Gentleman (Jefferson Stout aged in bourbon barrels). It was pretty damn good. Still haven't tried Timber Beast in spite of Coater sharing his Jackson honey holes with me (likely a day after Christmas shortage). A good list, and a lot of work-thanks for doing this tetu.

I'll save you the trouble, Jester King wins! DFH second.

Lagunitas maybe?
I know Lagunitas opened up a new brewery in Chicago. Now whether or not that means we'll see any, i don't know.

I think Deschutes would give DFH a run. And Firestone Walker as well. And Great Divide. And Avery. And...well, you get the point.

Just venturing a (somewhat educated) guess, but it would not surprise me if Terrapin was here next year.

Lips of Faith series is all I need from them though.
I will be on a steady diet of these. That is if any of my beer wasteland get them.

negative
but I'm not a farmhouse/funk/sour fan, so Jester King doesn't do it for me
and Ballast Point > DFH

IMO a brewery that basically only produces one beer that is readily available should not be ranked that high.
I agree, I think some of this based on expectations and not where they are right now. Parish is like the basketball player right out of High School who has enormous potential two years down the road that gets picked higher than a four year great college player.

Can you get Ballast Point in TX? I don't remember them being available.

Avery
Finally had a chance to pick up some of their beer and it was outstanding. I got their Pilsner and Belgian Style Wheat Ale and they were both top notch. Maybe the best Pilsner I've ever had.

If Firestone Walker had full distribution maybe. Great Divide and Avery definitely. I consider Deschutes one small notch down, but it's just my opinion.

DFH just produces so many damn beers
they may not produce that many exceptional beers, but their middle line-up will beat almost anybodies just by sheer volume

Yep. They have a lot of good beers, mabye not so many great ones. I'd love to have them available here so I could buy 60 Minute, 90 Minute, Indian Brown, etc. regularly. But given the choice, I'd take Deschutes or Great Divide because their top beers are better than DFH's top beers.

I was really let down by Abyss.
Yeti is outstanding though.
I'm a big DFH fan though, past the regulars. Some really good one-off and seasonal beers.
I was joking around, but I'd bet on DFH and Great Divide making the top 5

very true. i have NB available to me but their standard lineup and seasonal beers are pretty uninteresting. but the L of F series is fantastic.

I think NOLA and Parish got the benefit of some "homer" votes

crazy talk!
Was the tasting at B's the only time you've had it?

Texas would be a bloodbath! There are 25+ Texas based breweries and a lot of them make really great beer. Then add in all the other stuff available and it would be a true Battle Royal.

Yes, but I do have another bottle aging.
