LINK Many beer drinkers agree with me. But I respectfully accept your decision to disagree.

Name the 7 breweries in the top 16 you would put it over?

01. Stone (23/30)
02. Sierra Nevada (19/30)
03. Green Flash (18/30)

I'm pretty satisfied with the top 3. We got them in the right order.

Thanks for organizing!

I haven't had them all so it would be arbitrary selections. I'm just saying that Rogue is a world class brewery and if there are indeed 16 better breweries available in Louisiana that is quite impressive.

Ok just curious.

I really like a handful of their beers but most of the top 16 has at least one beer that is so good that I'd rather keep that brewery over rogue

Ex north coast only has two great beers a few avg ones ands shitty IPA and pa. The two great ones are that good though.

Another example- Jolly Pumpkin solely for La Parcela and La Roja

I would not put Lazy Magnolia in the top 16. I would have a feeling that an objective beer drinker from anywhere else in the country would put is much further down the list. Beer Advocate has it rated at an 83. According to the thought by the OP, Lazy Magnolia should have at least one really great beer.

What is it? Timber Beast?

I'm really glad we did this. It was fun and interesting to read other people's thoughts on breweries I like/don't like. I'll forever insist that the correct order of the top-3 is Stone, GF, then SN, but really it's just splitting hairs at that point

Will be interesting to see how this evolves over the years.

I said most and it was now of a personal opinion than a beeradvocate/ratebeer score.

Lazy magnolia, Anchor and Southern Star are weak in this category. (Of course, I've never tried LM TB and I'm sure some will say SS Pro Am was that beer but i didn't think it was anything that stood out)

Parish was another that may have been bumped up bc of it being local. Like I said earlier, alot of recent hype over grand reserve helped them move to #9. (But it is a damn good beer)

Just shows you how we like to support nearby breweries. And we're not completely blinded by local brews, look at where Tin Roof, Abita and Bayou Teche Turned up).

In my experiences in Baton Rouge, I have rarely run into someone that orders a LM at a bar. For me, LM is that beer that is always on tap but I don't see anyone buying it. Is LM popular in New Orleans or in other parts of the state?

Beer is such a subjective thing. Far more people will order an Abita Amber than a LM, even though they will be similar in price. Popular should mean better but we all know that is not the case in the beer world. I support Canebrake, and think it is a really solid beer; Tin Roof Blonde really isn't that bad and could hold its own against other blonde style ales.

Funny that Covington/Heiner didn't even get a mention. Maybe it gets overlooked, or just forgotten.

are you really going to back Covington brew house?

They were put in the "unintentionally left off" list, but they dont even belong with the likes of Tin Roof. They make a nasty bock and a pilsner which isn't much better. The beers under Hiener brau brand are a little better but the only two brews are a marzen and kolsch.

Eta: FTR I never voted Lazy Magnolia (never had timber beast). I did drink a beer of thiers on tap last weekend though and enjoy Jeff stout every now and then.
