Family Friendly Fine Dining in Baton Rouge

My sister and 5 year old nephew are coming in to town. I want to treat them to somewhere nice that is not too menu restrictive for a five year old. I don't want to go to Chili's or something too low rent. Anything that fits the bill?

Any fine dining in BR is fine for a kid if they behave.
I wouldn't even want to be in a Chili's with a kid screaming bloody murder

What about a place like parrains? Good food, casual, not too quiet so the other diners won't be bothered by the kid.

Agreed.
Do most nicer places offer off the menu kids items? I guess that's what I'm not sure about.
He's a good kid and I can keep him occupied I just need him to eat lol.

I couldn't tell you that off hand.
I would imagine no fine dining place is just going to have random chicken tenders and items like that laying around.
Could maybe try a seafood place like LA Lagniappe and provably get some fried catfish as a side

Seafood Places have a kids menu
Little Village has a kids menu
I'm sure pretty much every place has hamburger, chicken nuggets, or plain pasta for kids

You might want to look at Geno's. The menu is pretty large, though I doubt it has a child's menu. Pasta is usually a pretty safe bet whether spaghetti and meatballs or fettucine. The food is very good and it's usually pretty lively.

fine dining does not have this unless it is on the menu

Any fine dining is family friendly as long as your kid is.
It can be kind of hit or miss. Your best bet would probably be to call the restaurants you're interested in directly to ask. Call in the afternoon when they're between services and I'm sure the front of house would be more than happy to spend some time to discuss how they might be able to accommodate you. Fine dining is as much about the service and experience as the food, so they'll try as hard as they can to work with you, within reason. I'd also expect that a restaurant might be more willing to work with you for a lunch service instead of the typically busier and more formal dinner service.

It's not showing online, but as I mentioned above Italian restaurants have pasta dishes which are pretty safe.

Bring them to a hibachi restaurant. Kids love those places. You can have both sushi and/or hibachi.

Roberto’s isn’t fine dining, but good food, a kids menu, casual and I commonly see kids in there

I thought Ruffinos served pizza and cotton candy or some such nonsense.
Pretty sure someone on the F&D had a kids bday party there.

You said "somewhere nice" then qualified that with "not chilis" so I am not sure where your nice meter falls, but I would 100% go to the velvet cactus.
Awesome food, good drinks, family friendly.
