This seems to be traditional version:
Mine definitely had cucumber, carrot (didn't taste very pickled), and a sliver or two of jalapeno. One side of the bread was dry and the other had the pork liver paté. The sort of white looking meat must have been steamed pork roll. The ham with pig's ear ... I spit out the crunchy bits. There was cilantro, no daikon radish and no minced barbecued pork. French bread from Poupart's bakery. You don't see the top portion of the French bread in my sandwich because I ate it.

That's the worst looking excuse of a banh mi sandwich I've ever seen. One wonder you didn't like it.

Definitely try one with grilled pork & try to find a place that bakes their own bread. Traditionally bahn mi are made with a higher vegetable to meat ratio but don't be put off by this.

I would've never ordered that shite. Dong Phuong has the best banh mi and they are only $2.75. Hell, when vietnamese food was a lesser known commodity, those things went for 1.50 or 2.00 at most. 6 bucks is outrageous for a banh mi. Not to mention a shitty one at that.

Just because you don't like the texturally challenging vietnamese charcuterie doesn't mean you don't like bahn mi...it means you need to choose a filling you actually like. Grilled pork, grilled chicken, red-cooked pork, fish patties, grilled tofu...beaucoup filling options that don't involve pork loaf or pate.

The various pancake recipes using eggs and bananas instead of pancake mix. Love bananas. Love eggs. The "pancakes" just taste wrong.
