Evangeline maid with a slice of cheese, dab of mayo, and a link of boudin!
I went to school down the road and when the wind was right, we could smell them baking. It’s amazing.

Ahhh man I miss my sweet Evangeline white bread. Can’t get anything close to that good in Alabama.

A little mustard and a warm link of Rabideaux’s sausage

I bake my own wild yeast sourdoughs, but I will eat a slice of Evangeline Maid wrapped around several slices of greasy, crispy bacon. No mayo necessary if the bacon is sufficiently greasy.

Fresh slice with condensed milk was a snack when I was a kid.
The options are endless
And they’re all good.

What would y’all say is the closest substitute to Evangeline Maid bread? I’ve been getting by on Bunny and Wonder Bread since moving up to BR, but it’s just not the same.

It’s mighty good. When I see it, I buy it.

I don't want to say which one, but it's my understanding that there's a Rouses in Baton Rouge that gets it imported from West of the Mississippi River.
It may or may not be the one on Airline @ Antioch.

Whenever we’re back in Acadiana visiting family, it’s a must to load up on Evangeline Maid before heading back home to TX. We just take a loaf out the freezer when another one is almost done.

My father in law's family founded the bakery, he's got some great stories about his grandfather from back in the day.

Evangeline Maid is all my mom bought for sliced bread. I never knew how good it was until I moved away and went back home and tasted it after not having it for years. It is the GOAT of sliced bread.
