For you Baws with enameled cast iron pots, especially white on inside…

Do you consider the stains from cooking character/patina and a symbol of your labor of love?

OR

Do you try to remove and keep your pot prestigious like the day it was brought home?

What side you on ?

I clean mine with pink stuff. I don't need the inside looking perfect, but I don't like stains on the outsides of the pots. This works well for both.

I clean mine with a little Barkeepers friend. Cleans it right off and the pots look brand new.

I like outside to not have discolorations, some of the white fades brown on inside but I don’t worry too much about that. You can also use super coarse salt with sponge/soapy water to clean it off

The larger ones I use for browning meat are brown. I have smaller ones that I use to boil and simmer and those are white. Not like new, but very clean. I have Le Creuset and they’re about 15 -17 years old.

Mine all have a patina. That’s a fancy word for stain.

One size bigger than whatever you thin you need

I usually catch outlet sales or just watch on ebay/amazon for deals. be mindful of shipping costs if you go that route

ETA: I have the big saucepan, a large braiser with lid, 5.5qt dutch oven (this is a little small for me, but it was the Harry Potter one and my wife is obsessed), and 16qt stock pot.

I picked up a 7-quart enameled cast iron Dutch oven at Goodwill for $5 about 7 years ago. It's a no-name, but was in great shape and I've used it many, many times.

Got an enameled steel Merten & Storck brasier from Germany that cost many times more, and it works well too, though not better, except for one thing, it's a lot lighter than cast iron.

I have the 12 Quart Cajun Classic in purple and gold with white inside. Many years of patina on the white. Thought I ruined it when I did an over the top chili on my smoker. But the soot all came off with oven cleaner. . I think it’s all character.

Same. I swing by every time we go to our condo in OBA to see if there are any sales. I’ve gotten a number of pieces through the years. And they are worth it imo - as long as you take care of them.

The most expensive pot I own is a La Creuset oval. Did I spell that right? It is light tan and stained on the inside. I never had a problem with that because it cooks very well. Maybe I will actually clean the inside so I will know for certain it makes no difference.

I got my 7 1/4 qt Dutch oven at the La Creuset Outlet store in Hilton Head. That size usually retails for around $375. I bought one on sale, and was out the door for $202.

When necessary, I clean the bottom with a Mr Clean Eraser.
