Would still be way too warm for me.

I may still set up reservations there for outside and then just have them put us inside if the weather isn't right.
or go back to the Eleven79 option. aMano didn't appeal to me as much.

same here. If i am picking between the 2, i would go here.
They have a swanky little bar area that you may like as well for a drink or 2.
I like the opera singers, personally. Some don't care for it. I dont find it too over the top. But they only have them tues/wed/friday.

I like the singers, also. So have all the people I've taken there. I wouldn't go listen to them every night, but I like them. I like the piano without the players. If there's a piano in a restaurant, I always ask to be seated in that area. Makes it festive. That's why I ate in the bar area at Gino's this past weekend...piano player was there.

Not a comment on the food, but when Eleven79 gets busy, it can get quite loud, and I'm not one to care about noise at all. Just saying, if you're looking for romantic and what not, might want to consider that.

Eleven79 on all fronts and it's not even close.

well I setup a reservation at Marinique's just now. My thought is to see what the weather will be like that week. If it's nice, then I will go there.
Now comes my backup plan. I am most likely going to setup at either Eleven79 or Brigtsen's. The guy that owns a local restaurant I went to tonight was telling me that Brigtsen's is the place to go, so now I am torn between these two. I think I am leaning towards El79, mainly due to the Italian cuisine and the atmosphere, but I am reading some fantastic reviews on Brigtsen's food and service. I will definitely try Gio's some other time, but I don't think I want to deal with the Quarter on a Saturday night.
Here's hoping the weather cools off and stays dry though, because that courtyard at Martinique's looks sweet.

Brighstens is a better restaurant, but its not Italian. Make her go and teach her that great food exists outside meatballs and spaghetti.

Brigtsen's shits all over Eleven79. It's easily a top 10 restaurant in NOLA.
Plus, your formal attire will fit in much better at Brigtsen's.

There is no way that you'll have a pleasant night in mid Sept in Nola to eat outside in nice attire. Ain't happenin' without a miracle or rain that day in which case, you'll deal with double humidity. This is Louisiana. We don't have early Fall weather.
Just go to Brigtsen's between that and Eleven79.
Gio's is on the downtown edge of the Quarter with valet parking if you decide otherwise. It will be festive and the food will be excellent. If the lady wants Italian, then that's what you should do.
Otherwise, there are a gazillion good restaurants with wonderful atmosphere and air conditioning in mid-Sept.
