Moving into a new house that has a large sunroom and I want to replace the cooking setup currently in place with a 36 inch range. Any suggestions below $3k?

A Vulcan is in your price range.

That is what I was eyeing.

Had a Vulcan at my old house (as tears well up over leaving that kitchen). A cooking machine.

Commercial cooking appliances have MUCH different interface requirements than residential. Residential have no gap requirements, you can butt them up against wood/flammable cabinetry...commercial at least requires a foot. Residential appliances are Listed, with UL and the like, however commercial appliances are ALWAYS approved by the installation.
All I’m saying is that your home insurance may have a big say if you catch your place on fire with a commercial cooking appliance.
I worked in both product groups at UL in Santa Clara after LSU.

This is sage advice. I almost went the same route as you until insurance shut that idea down. The ventilation requirements are much higher than anything residential and most commercial ranges have pilot lights that stay on all the time.

Good info. I might need to rethink a few things.

Glad these guys chimed in. I looked hard at a commercial, did all the research and realized why you can't put commercial in a residential application and save money. The equipment itself is cheaper but you end up spending so much more for cabinet and wall insulation and venting that it ends up being the same. Insurance is an entirely different matter as well.
Tried to explain that in a thread on here a while back and some guy said I didn't know what I was talking about.

Bluestar is the closest residential offering to a commercial setup.
Very affordable too.
