I’ve eaten them rinsed in the pristine waters of the Tangipahoa River.

Long closed local bar used to cut up Vienna sausage and put it on a Tony’s frozen pizza. It was called a pony peter pizza on the menu. Had plenty of those back in the day.

If you are reduced to eating Vienna Sausages, you planned poorly.
Do better.

I pop the top off and put under hot running water for about 2 minutes. It flushes the can and washes the sausages. They taste better.

Eill pair with hot mustard and violently hot ,hot sauce

ETA: I drink the juice from BBQ viennas (only kind I buy)
Complete white trash move

Vienna sausage magically changes from repulsive to delicious depending on context. At home, disgusting. In a blind, on a stand, or at a camp fire, gourmet shite

After a 630am boat launch and a little fishing, come 1pm, a can of Vienna sausages and a couple packs of saltines are like A5 Waygu.

That reminds me.

I have some in the pantry and I'll just drain the juice and eat them straight up without crackers.

Depends what flavor. Original I just eat em and toss the juice. Spicy, I dump it, pour some crystal on em and then drink that after. Those are the only two I eat tho

I rinse the sausages under tap water.

Sardines there is no juice to drink as I eat the boneless skinless ones packed in oil with a spoon. Those King Oscar Mediterranean Style ones are divine.

Actively choosing to still eat Vienna Sausages in the year 2025 is wild

I am going through 8-10 cans a week. My small dog is on the way out and he has decided that's mainly what he wants to eat. I send the juice down the drain before slicing it up for him.

It's been decades since I've put Vienna Sausage, Deviled Ham, Spam or Potted Meat to my lips------------and I can't say I miss any of it.

Of the 4 above, I ate Spam the least since I could not stand the taste. As for the others, mostly with crackers and Creole Mustard is how it was consumed.

My biggest put-off with Vienna Sausage was the liquid in the can would often slightly congeal and cling to the sausages in the can, and especially so in cooler weather.

opening up a can in a duck blind in 20 degree weather and having to wipe the sausages off on your waders is a rite of passage

When my dad was still here we’d go fishing and he would put the tins under the engine hood. Warmed them up nicely and we would eat them in white bread. Nice memories…
