bottom line is Dragos is damn good

In no universe is Dragos "damn good". It sucks in ALMOST every way. Except for the charbroiled.

Everything else is heavy as hell and not very good.

I'm willing to bet Dragos would be a top 10 restaurant in most posters' arm pit of a home town.

Yeah, but we are talking about the NOLA area here. The entrees just aren't good, and I have been to Drago's many many times throughout my entire life.

I absolutely LOVE their charbroiled. They are one of the single best dishes in NOLA.

Everything else is just not good.

Agreed. Went a little over a month ago. All the oysters were killer, but my bbq shrimp poboy was a big pile of meh.

Drago's at the Hilton was the worst dinner I've had since moving to Nola. And to make matters worse, it's where I took my boss when he was in town since he was staying at the Hilton.

And I don't give a shite if this thread is about one dish.

Yea, its not the new orleans food snobs that tell you drago's is average, its everyone from new orleans that knows the city has so much more to offer. Think everyone is tired of hearing about drago's from every tom dick and sally tourist without a fricking clue about new orleans cuisine. Yes, the chargrilled oysters are good from drago's. There are about 10 dif places in new orleans that have comparable versions. It's not fricking rocket science. Drago's as a restaurant is not good by any standards. Its average over-priced food with sketchy service. If you think drago's oysters are one of new orleans top dishes it simply means you need to get around the city more.

Chargrilled Oysters ARE one of New Orlean's top dishes.

IDGAF if you don't like the smothered okra on their menu or find the lobster overcooked or anything else. But that dish is one of the top dishes in New Orleans and just so happens that Drago's does them better than most every place else.

This. I've made the recipe (only difference being that I use my oven) twice in the past week. It's easy as hell and made with ingredients most people have on hand all the time.
Delicious, but that's just because gobs of butter and garlic and Parm is delicious.

It was actually better with me adding other things not in the recipe.

I ate at Drago's once. It was overpriced and not good.. and this was before I was even a big food-interested person. I also remember a domestic bottled beer being $6.50.
