The fact that places like Casamentos has chargrilled oysters on their menu helps prove the OP's point. I for one would never turn down a meal at Dragos.

This is what the OP addressed. But 9/10 dipshits here choose to talk about what else they have on the menu.

he is talking about a dish. Not a restaurant. If they cannot talk about the dish then maybe this thread is not for them.

Case in point:

quote:

I am not anti dragos by any means, but you seriously can't say it competes with a restaurant like peche. Completely different food in my opinion. There wouldn't be many situations I could think of where I would chose dragos over some of the other restaurants in New Orleans. I don't get to eat out in Nola everyday, so when I do I want something outstanding.

OP isn't talking about the restaurant but a dish that they serve.

Its like saying you don't want to eat a Central muffaletta because you don't care for their grocery store and prefer Whole Foods.

I don't know what makes a thread worse, the dipshits you speak of, or you people acknowledging said dipshits you speak of.

The title mentions the oysters, yes, but this is the rest of his post which includes other menu items and "one of the best dinners I've had in a while".

Or a couple of dishes you mean, right?

I enjoy the oysters and the give me the oysters and a beer and its one of the better dinners I can enjoy. (does that make my beer selection part of the subject matter) Just because he enjoyed two other items on the menu does not in any way lead way to him claiming that Drago's is one of the finest NO restaurants.

I just love the food snobs getting called out in here. Dude offers his opinion then told he's wrong....lol. If it's the best meal he's had in a long time how in the hell can someone tell him he's wrong?

Anyway...I love Drago's oysters. Never had anything else there. Never plan to. We'll be back in the city in two weeks and as sure as a polar bear shits on ice, I'll be at Drago's enjoying them again.

Those chargrilled oysters are awesome. They serve some excellent raw oysters too. The rest of the menu kinda blows

Agreed. Went a little over a month ago. All the oysters were killer, but my bbq shrimp poboy was a big pile of meh.

I have only eaten the chargrilled and raw oysters, but I have eaten them in the Hilton.

So far I have found out two things:

1.) I have shitty taste in food, cause I love them.

2.) I have not been staying in New Orleans. I have been mistaken.

Also, I also confess to liking an Abita Amber with my oyster dish.

Had that its heart burn waiting to happen. That bread just soaks up all that oil.

Agreed. Way too greasy for me. And the french bread wasn't very good .. too chewy; no flakiness going on.

I went with 5 other people and tried each of their dishes and everything was similarly mediocre to poor. As has been stated the chargrilled are fantastic, but I'm not driving out to Metairie just for that; especially considering how geriatric and bland the atmosphere can be.

Same here but that's the way I was brought up. I've been enjoying Abita Amber with my oysters for years before the the term craft beer was used.

I don't like oysters, so I have no dog in this fight.

It's not like roast beef po boys, where I only like the absolute best. I don't like oysters at all.

have you had them charbroiled? My wife hates oysters every other way. But craves charbroiled ones.
