Anywhere downtown near the Centroplex with a decent Friday happy hour? Going to a Mardi Gras ball and don't feel like fighting traffic to the burbs twice, so thinking about just sticking around after work and grabbing a few small plates and drinks. Thanks in advance!

Take the short drive to the perkins road overpass area or government street area...
Downtown baton rouge is dead

Blend and Cocha are both good spots for that.

Agreed. Blend and Cocha are probably your best bets for food and drinks.
Jolie Pearl is a decent space, but I've never eaten there, just had drinks.
Capital City Grill is OK, never been that cuckoo about Stroube's (but I only ate there once or twice)

The Gregory, Tsunami, Jolie Pearl, Stroubes. All nice places with a decent happy hour and food.

I think BTR and The River Room are 2 of the most underrated bars in BR in my opinion. They are cool places, but mostly dead. Idk that either of them do a Friday special though, which I will never understand.

I feel like the downtown places don't even try to attract the post-work crowd, which is crazy to me because traffic leaving downtown absolutely sucks at 4 or 5 but there is hardly any traffic by about 6... Give me a 5:30 trivia or something with good beer specials, and I would stay downtown and wait out traffic. Only successful weekly event is Tuesday runs at Happy's.

It's a shame the downtown resturant and bar scene is so pathetic....the DDD is proud of all the new hotels that have opened recently...however there isn't much for these people to do once they leave their hotel rooms.
I've been told by the DDD that
it donesn't want downtown to turn into another french quarter...believe me they have nothing to worry about...
Downtown baton rouge is just plain boring to locals and too people visiting from out of town...
