That was one of the funnier exchanges from Mel. Mel called out TaTW then called one of the black guys that worked there an Uncle Tom. The employee responded to Mel to shut the frick up and pointed out he had no idea what he was talking about.

Mel deleted everything as is par for the course.

Why anyone takes him seriously is beyond me. He culturally appropriated Asian food. He’s just a bitter homosexual not comfortable in his own skin.

You can get to Walmart in less than 3 mins. Seems like a bargain imo.

Yeah bc I want to live that close to the old empty Sara Mayo Clinic - yikes!! I’m sure it’s safe at night. I never met a crack head I didn’t like.

Plus it looks like the whole thing is for sale for 3.5 million dollars - I wonder how many tenants it has

(Probably none - its all air bnb)

My grandparents took their engagement picture in front of the project in the 1940s bc it was prettier than the house my great grandparents lived in

So I love Jackson ave but I’m not willing to end up at St Patrick’s no. 1- thanks but no thanks

That place sucks. They can charge me 100% tip and they would still get the same $0.00 that I will ever give them.

If a tip is guaranteed service will be abysmal. Why work harder than you have to as a server? Why smile? Why try at all? You’re splitting your tip with the dishwasher. This model has failed miserably in “fine dining” restaurants in NYC

Oh, sorry. Didn’t realize it was counter service. I’ll never go there so forgive my opinion. I don’t tip at chic fil a and I guarantee their service blows this place away

And in the very same post, you extol a restaurant where there is no tipping.

Exactly. I’m not asked to tip at a place with good service. They will continue to get my money. Not there. Ever.

You’re all over the place, man. Just don’t go to the restaurant. No one cares.

I see people keep mentioning Europe as the model, how the people here that serve usually don't give a frick like they do in Europe. If they are a shitty server over there they lose a job, here they expect a larger tip.

if a place has shitty service, I just won't return

I just really hate the stupid game of figuring out the tip and whatnot

just charge me a flat rate and if I like the food and service, I'll return as a customer, if not, I'll go elsewhere

this shouldn't be difficult

Does he? Sounds like he wants the customers to give his employees a raise. He's shifting responsibility from himself, as a business owner, to the customers, and using the post, as others have said, to guilt the customer.

quote:

But as mentioned previously, people have historically stopped patronizing places that raise their prices above competitors. Whereas they don't really notice/care when there's a fee.

So is the 15% not going to be added to the prices of their food?

Personally, i find it silly to automatically add gratuity, mainly because i tip 18-20% for my meals. However, i do understand that there are certain clientele that doesn't tip at all or seriously under tip. However, the proper way to give your employers more money, is by giving employers more money. Raises. Not by shifting your responsibility as a business owner to the patrons.

From what everyone says, the food is pretty good. I wouldn't know because i've never been, and due to their political BS, will never go, and i know i'm not alone. But i feel this is yet another virtue signal by turkey and wolf that will cause them to lose business, rather than gain it. And you know, maybe they don't care. Maybe they have a rabid following that doesn't care how obnoxious they are. But i would think with the Destroya running that city, you'd do your best not to antagonize potential customers.

Figuring out a tip is easy, 10% of the bill and then double it .. takes 2 secs

Seems more and more they calculate it on the bill and you chose the total after tip.

Yeah. And 99.9% of the time I choose 20% because it has to be extraordinarily bad service for me to not tip 20%

So this would save me money.

And do people really not tip at their favorite counter service restaurants?

So here is a scenario

Central City BBQ

If I sit at the bar, and it’s full service I tip 20%

If I order at the window and they bring out the food and then I am on my own usually tip a 2-3 bucks.

As mentioned, that higher price seems to turn folks off.

Their very limited menu is turning me off. Just gave it a look online and what they are currently offering looks very underwhelming.

adding 15% for what's essentially non-existent service? Hard pass.

Now this is interesting...I've never been so I don't know, but do they actually offer a table service? Or is it an order at a counter and get your food kind of place?

Because if so, than 15% on top the bill isn't cool.
