Get you some Chef’s fried chicken

ETA: I’m from Donaldsonville and hate the Grapevine. Not a popular opinion.

Why do you dislike Grapevine? Bad experience or personal issue with someone?

I’ve eaten there twice and thought it was good.

Agree - Go all the time. Better food than almost anywhere in this state.

Are you looking to have lunch with a client in the area or just picking up food?
Way down south hit it in the head with those options, there is not much in Donaldsonville.
It looks like you are from Shreveport so I assume you’re going to be going through Port Allen address Bruley plaquemine Inn White Castle. I would suggest maybe stopping in Port Allen or Bruley area for more options.

You could stop in Plaquemine at a Poboy place I think it is called fat Daddys it was pretty good from what I remember

Grapevine has always been solid for me.
Carriage House (at Houmas House) is very good, especially if you have time to walk the grounds for a bit.
Cafe Lafourche can be good but it's not as consistent as Grapevine.
Mike Andersons is on the way - Hwy 30 exit at Gonzales.

I miss Cypress Cafe - it was a great lunch spot downtown.

I forgot about this! Use to get chicken tenders with garlic fries every Saturday night with my grandparents.

I’m trying to think of the old sandwich shop next door that closed around 07-08. Their onion rings were amazing, home made and so crunchy

What used to be Ruggiero's? I don't remember there being a sandwich shop next door though.

Pre covid, I had a decent burger a couple times at that place right behind the Wendy's.
Forgot the name, but it's a little local joint...

I do miss Hymel's. And not the last version-the fifty years ago until 10 years ago version.
