Saw a news story about how it's immoral how much money people spend on their pets when the recession is going on.

I would stop paying attention to whoever ran that news story. They need to get out of people's personal business and let them spend their money as they damn well please.

people food much healthier than dog food? not when you are feeding him this shite.

2. Sweets... especially sugar cookies.

sweets and sugar are terrible for dogs. obesity, diabetes, and teeth problems are caused by sugars.

Meat... they like the crispy crust from Walmart Fried chicken. Second favorite is trimmed fat off grilled NY strip steak. They also get the last hamburgers.

trimmed fat is awful for dogs. Can cause pancreatitis. you cant possibly think these 3 things can be good for your dog.

But perhaps you have a better record with pets. Tell us about it.

sounds like a smartass comment.

How do you even know if it shortens their lives? It's a dog.

And since it is a dog, no I am not going to feed it expensive food that I could eat.

generally foods that are unhealthy cause health problems which in turn can shorten your life.

you are feeding your dog biscuits, muffins, sugar cookies, fried chicken skin, and trimmed fat of a NY strip, among other things, and you think this is healthier than dog food?

now i have heard of lean white means and some rice and stuff to feed dogs, but unhealthy human food isn't suddenly healthy for animals .

It's not the main food. It's the treat. BTW, we don't actually call them 'sugar cookies'... we call them 'tooker tookies.'

Fat is what wolves ate. Dogs are wolves. You need to do some research.

Translation: All of my dogs died before the age of 7. I feel your guilt. Don't have dogs.

Yes, it is much healthier than dog food.
No, that's not their primary diet.
The above mentioned items are in the minority compared to rice, pasta, veggies, chicken that is not skin, fish, etc. We give them dog food on the rare occasion when the fridge is running low. They don't like it but they eat it and demonstrate their displeasure.

And I'll bet you all sell really high priced dog food. No conflict of interest there. Nope.

I'm 11 and I'll report you to child protection services if you harass me.

Translation: I'm waaay over my head and I'm starting to look stupid.

Let me spell it out in caps... ALL DOGS ARE DERIVED FROM WOLVES.

Do you understand? They are carnivores. They eat FAT. They don't even need it cooked since wolves didn't have kitchens back in the day.

Now, put your nurse uniform back on and ask your vet about it tomorrow and he will tell you that Zach is right and you are wrong.

has nothing to do with realizing that the foods you are feeding your dog are terrible. let me ask you this, are those foods good for humans?

quote:

pretty much the exact opposite.

that has nothing to do with what you should be feeding your dog. and you do realize that your regular old domestic dog is not like a wolf in the wild.

this conversation is going no where.

just go google "table food for dogs" and every legit site that comes up is basically saying what you are doing/saying is wrong.

interesting quote i just pulled up

quote:

Avoid fatty foods like chicken skin, or the scraps of fat you've trimmed off your dinner steak, as well as high-sugar foods like candy and baked goods.

Dog is family, if you don't like that I cook for the family then a very kind FU. I bought it, shopped for it and made the menu du jour while doing so, and no one is going to tell who gets to eat it. If you would like me to share some of my food, then okay if it is availible, no problem. BTW, what do you think Bo got to eat tonight, I would think a Presidential dog is on a tight diet with Moosechelle in charge of what someone else eats, don't you?
