I hated Trader Joe's. It was too small, too packed, and nothing but packaged items. There's no way I could go in there with a list and find what I need. The produce looked like shite and there was no real meat department. If all I ate were frozen meals and snacks, I could shop there.

I agree with this.

We shop at the locals. Mathernes for groceries, and for produce I go to Southside Profuce Co.

I got an entirely different impression of the place when I visited Saturday morning. I'm not sure what your lists usually contain, but it certainly had enough produce/meat for a normal grocery order. And everything looked very good to my eye.

Dunno. I'm going to give it a try next weekend and see what happens.

I've been a handful of times because it's so convenient, but no I wouldn't do all my shopping there. I agree with you that they had a better produce/meat section than I was expecting. They also have a lot of cheese for really cheap, and I've never had a problem with finding anything dairy on my list.

The only real disappointment has been their house beers. Not good at all.

Never been to trader Joe's but I can't shop at walmart. How do you grocery shop when you can't buy meat or produce?

The Super Wally World on College and the Trader Joe's both have meat and produce.

I avoid Walmart because of the crowds, but it would be really easy to grocery shop there otherwise.

For a few weeks I would do about half of my grocery shopping at Trader Joe's. I had no complaints about the produce. However, outside of the 2 buck chuck all the meat was higher priced than a traditional grocery store.

Have you been since the hype died down?

And they have plenty of non-packaged items

So does anyone here do all their shopping at TJ?

Nope, we go there for specialty stuff and seasonal goods. The meat is way too expensive and we get a lot of protein.

Agreed.

But I don't know what some people's grocery list looks like.

Never been. I give Calandros my business, sometimes Alexanders.

My wife shops at Winn Dixie and Wal Mart for price. I refuse to give Wal Mart my $, but no longer argue with my bride about it.
