Anyone check it out? Today was the grand opening. Looks like they occupy the space that rolls polly was in.

The new Dickey's location will offer a complimentary taste of its newest limited time offer, the Buffalo & Bleu Butcher Taco, to the first 50 guests in the door on Thursdays until September 22. Not a lot of options in Metairie to grab BBQ.

I haven't been but there's one on Jefferson Hwy. in Harahan that's been there a while.

I wonder if they ran to the nearest Walmart to grab more beans if they ran out.
We saw that happen when the one in Harahan opened. You might be wondering how we could know they were Dickeys employees. Well, they were wearing their work shirts.

2 different location myself and I will not walk into one again. The second time was because a friend insisted and I had some hope another location would be better.
It is just what I expected from fast food BBQ.

I've tried the one in Covington because I smelled it so many times going in to Nevada Bob's and thinking it'd be good. I also had no clue it was a chain.
The best thing about it was the big plastic cup I left with.

I hate them only for the big plastic cup. The yellow cup is their only option for drinks at a cost of $2.95 per trip. I don't want to pay $3 for a big yellow cup every time I go there and throw it away when I'm done. I refuse to leave with their cup to advertise their brand when I have no other options.
The big plastic cup at Dickey's is what is wrong with America these days.
The day they eliminate their complimentary soft serve is the day I will toss a Molotov cocktail through the butcher station by way of their own yellow cup.

While I appreciate your enthusiasm, and I'm not particularly a big fan of dickeys, but if their cup makes you that upset couldn't you just get a water instead? I'm not a tea drinker nor a soft drink drinker (basically just coffee, water, and beer) so I always get water at places like that and as a bonus I avoid the ridiculous $3 charge for their big stupid cup.
Although I do keep two "big cups" on hand (either from newks or dickeys) because they are helpful for rinsing the kids hair at bath time. That, and a dog food scoop.

So is this like BBQ fast food? Anyone know if they use a "pit" to BBQ or is this just some heat em up BBQ that was frozen and thawed onsite?

no its really smoked, ive seen it before
we have one a mile from our house and its kids eat free on weekends so me and the family eat there for $20. not bad for a family of 4.
it is what it is, good not great BBQ. it started in Dallas and i still go to the original location and its still very good. the family got greedy and started taking it mainstream and changed the product when they went nationwide. they kept the original feel with the first location.
