Never been.
In fact I’ve never gotten off I-10 in LC.
But once a post like this gets to 35+ replies I know there’s some entertainment. Haha!

China Garden
Peppers
Casa
Hunan Inn (got food poisoning there once)
Cottons
Alladins
Crab Palace
Mr. B's
Tony's
Pronias
Pat's
Cancun

I'm not sure how the 5 places you've named, plus 1 if you add Cousins blows BR out of the water.

there are a LOT more than just those

and i said per capita. BR's metro area is close to a million people

Have you driven around BR?

i lived there for 7 years

I love it when I find someone who is passionate about LC on here. Simple minded folks in a simple minded town.

i'm not passionate about LC. i'm just correcting outright lies about LC. this site likes to shite on LC and much of it is undeserved

Any status on Pronias? Are they ever coming back? Would be a huge loss.

Lived in LC for a year and a half. LC does not deserve the hate it gets on here. Especially Darrell's. It may not be a "traditional" poboy, but it's still damn good.

When I lived in LC, someone told me that Darrell started selling poboys as a front for his bookie operation. I wonder if that's true.

Blows out the water is ridiculous hyperbole even with the “per capita” qualifier

Lake Charles has some good local restaurants

Steamboat Bills
Darrell’s
La Trouffe Sauvage
Calla
Pujo Street
Boil N Go
Market Basket Boudin

All of these would do more than hold their own in Jefferson or Orleans parish. In fact, Nola doesn’t have anything to hold a candle to Lake Charles Crawfish restaurants and boudin. Period.

Pronias muff is better than any muff in Nola.

Also,

Mazen’s and Cousins would do well in Nola.

That bread looks way off. Olive salad seems legit, though.

That one looks more like what I’d expect bread wise. Meats look much better as well. Not sure what I found in goggling the place. I will check it out, though. Glad to try something beyond Darrell’s if I’m over there.

I still have a matchbook from there. I loved that place.

Probably had the best chicken fried steak I ever had, aside from me making it at home. And before they changed the menu. I miss that place.

Yep. All great places.

I don't remember that but maybe you're talking about Mr. D's? It was on Common street after Cock of the Walk left town. That place was awesome. We'd go there at least once a week.

Pat's

Pat O'Carroll's? Heck yes! I loved how they gave you mugs when you ordered drinks and you could take them home. I still have one.

Maybe I’ve eaten at the wrong places but New Orleans cooking and LC is not even comparable. But maybe I’m just used of our areas cooking but I’d put LC over New Orleans any day.
