I cooked a beautiful crawfish etoufee but I think I had a bad bag of crawfish tails. It smells fishy. Any way to cook out or get rid of the fishy smell

If it’s smells bad, why would you eat it?

First you make a roux...

If it just smells fishy and you don’t think the tails are past their time, try some lemon zest and fresh lemon juice.

Lighten up Francis. I legit would have helped you if I could have thought of anything, but it was just too tempting to reference the very relevant Seinfeld episode.

Are you puking yet?
I eat some pretty old, outdated stuff but stinky seafood ain't one.

Glad it helped and hope those crawfish weren't past their time. "Fishy" is one thing. "Stinky" is quite another.

Gotta pass the sniff test before they go in the pot.

Don't buy Chinese crawfish.

When I first started cooking, I got some and had bad results. You have to rinse them before cooking, or they have a bad taste.
I now pay double for Louisiana ones. Most recently bought some at Farmer's Seafood that were a brand from Mamou, and they were excellent in etouffee.
