Thoughts on this brand? 34 lbs/$21 at Costco.

I bought this bag from Costco. I didn't have the issues that a lot of others have had, but I didn't find that it was all that great either. Seemed to be excessively smokey when in reality I would like my lump to burn cleaner.

Absolute garbage, literally.... Fast burn time, high ash, and low heat. Typically every batch I've ever seen usually has all kinds of foreign matter in it as well, like it's all put together from old railroad lines.

If you're going with lump, go with Royal Oak Lump or B&B.

Agree that it is junk, it popped and sparked more than any lump I’ve ever used. Some random junk in the bag too (metal bits).

The bag I got from Costco didn't have anything besides varied sized charcoal pieces. No metal, rocks, or other stuff like that.

not the best, but I have definitely had worse.

never find much crap in the bag unlike the BGE brand backs that tend to have 20-30 rocks in each bag.

Just fine on quick cooks. Haven’t used it for longer one though

This board turned me on to FOGO about 2 years ago. Yes it's about double this price, but it burns longer and cleaner thus making it a better value in the end.

Only lump worth buying is Kamado joe big block or Fogo, imo. You get what you pay for here.

I bought it once. Won't buy it again. Pieces were either the size of a quarter or the size of a cowboy boot. No consistency - only extremes. I threw the bag out after trying to cook with it twice.

I find that it burns out really quickly and does not burn as clean as other brands.

Cowboy is junk, I've found rocks, nuts, you name it in there

Fogo and Jealous Devil are my favorite brands

Awful crap, don't waste your money on cowboy brand

B&B and Royal Oak not that much more expensive

As others have said, complete trash. Sparks up like the 4th of July, heavy smoke, burns out quick, small pieces, a lot of dust, and the added benefit of finding tie straps, bolts, rocks, pieces of finished dining room furniture, etc...

Kamado Joe Big Block is the best I’ve used and haven’t found a rival yet.

I just opened a bag I bought a few months ago, there isn't a lump bigger than a carrot. A waste of money.

I used it at first, but no more, sparks, full of junk, gives an off flavor to meat.

The best thing you can do with it is load your ceramic with it, open the vents, and light it. Let it get up to 700+ degrees and clean the interior of your grill, like a self-cleaning oven.
