Costco Prime Brisket Price is Legit

Just picked up this whole packer today prime grade for $2.79/lb will probably age it in fridge and smoke it next Sat/Sun.

No it won't change it two weeks might, but I would rather not freeze it. However the pack date on it is when Costco put it out for sale the actual pack date from IBP is what matters. I don't know when that was.

Is there a discernible difference between prime brisket and the choice or select packers I normally see?

Prime grade will have a higher amount of intramuscular fat. Choice would be next followed by Select. If cooked properly prime should be juicier and more tender. I have cooked choice that was just as good. However choice briskets at the grocery store here are about $6/lb which is why Costco rules.

bought one from Costco last weekend and cooked it last Sunday on the egg. was excellent! I think it was 2.49lb, Prime

This chafes me a bit after talking to the proper guy in the meat department at the Costco near me in ATL a few weeks ago. Spoke for awhile and he categorically said he was not allowed to order packers, just flats. Then I asked if he could order just points, he said no. He could provide no reasoning for either. I find it ridiculous.

Agreed, the Costco in Hoover isn't really any better than Publix for meat.
