I eat flour tortillas and appreciate the "better" texture but I don't find that they have as much flavor.
Flour Tortillas are the "White Bread" of the taco world. Sure other tortillas have more flavor and texture but white bread does the trick and is satisfying.

I find corn tortilla to have too much of a taste most of the time. It overpowers the filling. Especially with your mass produced corn tortillas. However, I would never turn down homemade or "fresh" corn tortillas with a little bit of char on the outside.
Interesting
I've always looked at it as the opposite. As in, corn tortillas taste like absolutely nothing to me and make whatever I'm eating more bland. I suppose you could be right and I'm thinking of it the wrong way, but corn tortillas eaten separately have no taste to me.

I honestly didn’t know it made that big of a deal. It’s not like the tortillas are the star of the show. Are any of you that adverse to corn tortillas?
I feel the same, but there are a lot of people who are very picky about it.

A tortilla's job is to keep the stuff that matters off your hands and off your shirt. That's it.

I like both but the mexican place down the street makes their flour tortillas in house and buys their corn from a local tortilla place. The fresh flour tortillas melt in your mouth and the corn ones can be a day old so I always get flour when I'm there.

Girlfriends dad lives in Houston and we get him to ship us tortillas from HEB. They really are great. Also, for those in Metairie/NOLA area you really need to go to Mawi in Metairie to get their fresh made daily corn tortillas. Store bought just can’t come close to fresh when it comes to corn

You invited too many gringos
I prefer corn - I lived in the Rio Grande Valley for a few years growing up and we lived within walking distance of a tortilleria - 25¢ a dozen and they were hot, the place also made their own corn chips
Don’t get me wrong, I like flour too, but nothing beats fresh corn tortillas

Fresh-made corn … best I ever had were at Taquiza in Miami

If you want flavor corn.
I only use flour for enchiladas. Corn is just so much better. It amazes me the people who use flour for tacos.

I'm the opposite. I want corn tortillas for enchiladas.

I need to try this. I just don’t even think it’s close
When comparing corn or flour. Corn has much better flavor

I'll eat them if I must, but I much prefer flour. Just not a big corn tortilla fan.

My preference is flour, but I'll do corn without much issue.

¡Vete a la verga, pinche gabachos!
Don't get me wrong, flour tortillas have their place. Flour tortillas are perfect for quesadillas and burritos. As a kid I remember eating plenty of soft tacos from Taco Bell, the most authentic mexican restaurant
Of course that all changed after I grew my big boy teeth and actually ate tacos from a taqueria. After that experience, corn tortillas are all I want for tacos, especially when made right.
Tacos made with flour tortillas are sometimes referred to as "Tacos de Gabachos" or tacos for white Americans because of their preference for flour tortillas. Flour tortillas are not 'wrong' for tacos, their just not authentic and not very good.
Corn tortillas are also the correct option for fajitas & enchiladas. You'd never catch a Chilango eating his carne asada or carnitas with a flaccid flour tortilla.

Wrong. Flour tortillas are authentic Mexican food and are very good. Anyone who shuns one or the other is missing out.

Next you're going to tell me the hard shell is traditional to the taco.

I can never decide.
I've been enjoying the heck out of these lately La Tortilla Factory Corn + Wheat tortillas. I don't think it says so on the package, but I am pretty sure you would not want to eat them uncooked. They can be fried, but I often just bake them.

Don't trust me, it's pretty easy to look up the history of flour tortillas.

It's pretty easy to look up the history of tacos too. Corn is the traditional ingredient for tortillas for tacos.
