All the good boudin places are 1 hour west of BR, but they all ship.

Iverstine’s butcher in BR makes a solid link

Ronnie's regular boudin is as good as you'll find anywhere and his smoked boudin is the best smoked you will find anywere.

Pricier places but quality: Louisiana Lagniappe, beausoleil, Jubans, French Market Bistro, Mansurs on the BLVD, Jubans, Bin 77
-- i would rec. La Lagniappe
since you will have a car, i would also highly recommend Robertos. Its about 15-20 minute drive but its delicious.
I would say chimes and\or Parrains would be a must as well
crawfish - Ivars, Willys, Sammys are all places you can dine in that are in the city limits
If you dont feel like driving to Lafayette for the best boudin, across the mississippi river bridge is a place called bergerons. They have some good shite.

Sammy’s sucks. Avoid. The crawfish at Willie’s are super dirty/gritty. Wouldn’t not recommend. If you want quality crawfish go to Montalbano’s, Louisiana Cajun Seafood, or Capital City Crawfish.
Best restaurants in the city are Maison Lacour, Mansur’s, Parrains, Umami

people that are not from here would be perfectly fine with Sammys.
CCC is my favorite place but i dont see his family enjoying it when they dont really have a menu to order other things

Bergeron's, across the river in Port Allen, is about the best boudin in the area. I've never had their plate lunches, but they look pretty good.
There are some solid recommendations in the thread. I'll give a shout out to The Chimes. It's real solid casual food, with a very good beer selection. They do burgers, fried seafood, red beans, steaks -- all excellent. If your sons are teenagers, they'll like the place. It's owned by the same people as Parrain's, which is more seafood heavy and a tad nicer. (You can get out of The Chimes paying $10-$12 for an entree, it will be more like $12-$15 at Parrain's)

Yep. Montalbano's, Capital City Crawfish, etc. are not true sit-down places with service/beer. Not sure how you expect someone staying in a hotel room to eat crawfish from those spots. Sammy's (or any other sit down place with decent crawfish) is the best option for someone visiting.
Reminds me of when people making threads looking for a lively Mexican spot to celebrate a birthday on a Friday night and people start recommending the Hispanic market "because authentic"
I don't know if they're doing it or not, but Creole Cabana (owned by Sammy's, but a massive space with tons of seating) was originally planning on doing crawfish this year.

Capital City Crawfish has seating -- I've eaten a po-boy there -- but I think all they sell is soft drinks.
But yeah, Sammy's is your best bet locally for boiled crawfish.

I have been eating crawfish my whole life, just not my wife who is from Virginia. I want the best.
