Their reserve series (I think that's it) is pretty good. Community Dark is not good coffee. It is burnt beyond any productive flavors.

Meh, keep your brightness. Not my cup of tea.

Coffee is definitely one of those flavors that are very subjective.

I've found that good, high quality coffee, no sugar or cream needed, is brewed at magpie, district donuts, whole foods, and french truck. I'm sure there are a few others I'm leaving out.

I can't stand frou frou drinks. I will sometimes get a cafe au lait from PJ's.
Anyway, I've been to coffee shops all over the country and world and not a single one has ever been condescending about a basic order. In espresso heavy countries, I go with a cortado or machiato (both just espresso with a bit of milk, steamed in the former and foamed in the latter). In the US, I'll either order the aforementioned or do a black coffee. If you think that someone asking you whether you'd prefer pour over or french press instead of assuming you want shitty drip coffee, grow up and stop being so sensitive. If you feel your balls shrink up when they ask which beans you want, stop spending so much time bitching on the internet and go read something.
With that little diatribe aside, French Truck and both Magpie locations are doing really good things. Brew Ha Ha is good, not great. Unless Garden District has significantly improved in the few years since I've been there, they are serving barely CC's level coffee.

Honey latte from Magpie is my shite. Also their scones are delicious

It just blows my mind that coffee shops don't offer a regular cup of coffee. If you go in and ask for something that doesn't sound like some fat millennial college dropout created it, you get looked at like you're fricking retarded.
Interesting. I get a grande dark roast every day from a rotation of 3 different coffee shops.

This guy is ranting about not getting a decent cup of regular coffee but adds both milk and sugar? Not sure if he's being serious......

anytime a coffee threads happens, you always have the retards that say a "cup of joe" costs $7 at Starbucks or that you can't get a regular cup of coffee anywhere these days
I've never been to any coffee shop that did not have you standard dark, medium, or light roast coffee for order and almost always less than $3

Need to hit Garden District next time I'm in town. Their large Americano is almost half what I pay in L.A.

One day, someone is going to need to explain to me why people self select to drink this abomination which was birthed from sheer necessity during the European wars

You mean like Chicory?
Chicory is also an abomination birthed by necessity, and it happens to be one I enjoy fricking with my friends from Nola about because they tend to be such food and drink snobs, yet they self select to use a cheap filler traditionally used to stretch coffee
Posted on 1/25/18 at 12:54 pm to Joshjrn
I never understand chicory. If someone likes it I usually make a mental note to disregard their opinions of food in general.

Magpie
That was six years ago, BTW.

Do you have a link to this? I feel like that kind of thread is something I would enjoy
