just posted on their facebook

Link Restaurant Group (LRG) announced today that it was re- focusing its development efforts in the New Orleans market. With the planned opening of a new wood-fired seafood restaurant this spring at the corner of Magazine and Julia Street, the company resources will be concentrated in the city. As a result, LRG is exiting the Lafayette, LA market. The Cochon Lafayette location will become a new restaurant operated by the owners of Ruffino’s in Baton Rouge.
We’ve enjoyed our time in Lafayette. We’re also happy that the beautiful Vermilion River location we built will become a vibrant new restaurant serving an excellent menu from a highly regarded Louisiana operator.

Too bad, it was teh best restaurant in Lafayette, or at least was a year or so ago. Not surprised it's closing though. The first time I went in there, I posted on here that I wasn't optimistic about it making it. From a business perspective, sinking all that money into that location seemed foolish and a deep hole to get out of.

I figured it would. Some posters here acted as if Lafayette wouldn't support it because the food isn't good enough. That was laughable.
They stepped up their game at the new locations
ETA: I didn't think they'd do as well as they are

So, is it going to be Mansur's or Ruffino's?

I called this before they opened. I believe I said they would close in 1-2 years. Have to go back and check the record.
I said they were overpriced for what they served. The menu in NOLA at 8 dollars for boudin would never work in Laffy is what I said. You can get better boudin from a gas station there.

I had their chicken fricassee lunch special and can probably name 5 gas stations in town that have better fricassee.

Amazing chef. Great food, but pricey. I just never saw a place that sells 3 boudin balls for $9 to last in Cajun country.

Those were idiots if they think that. The food is actually better in lafayette than the BR one.

I think Cochon Butcher would have worked better than the Cochon restaurant in Laffy.
Not sure Ruffino's or Mansur's will last there.

It's sad how everyone harps on that, when they offer so much more than just boudin. Place is much more ambitious than anything Mansurs or Ruffinos would ever hope to be, yet people are going to say they won't eat there because they can get better boudin at the corner gas station.
However, I never had high hopes for that place to begin with -- understanding the prevalence of such a ridiculous attitude.

Are we talking about Couchon here?

they had these bad arse jarred pickles though. I wanted to buy a jar but they were sold out

Don't listen to me. I was so wrong. I do wonder if all of the complaints about the service and food affected it or whether it wouldn't have worked regardless.

Good to see glass was still talking about Finn's with every post 2 years ago
It never became popular even though they tried things like cochon de laits, bands in the bar at night, even free food

I still believe that Baton Rouge was a much better fit for Couchon than Lafayette. There is just a stigma for the type of fare that they serve and the price. You wont find the same attitude about that in BR.

This is what I dont get, YA. Yet people consistenly go spend big bucks on frozen fish that is sliced on top of rice and given a few squirts of mayo. Or drop coin on a steak. Or...
Its a restaurant. They all serve the same thing: food. They are all fairly tiered by price no matter what they are serving, cheap, moderate, expensive.

Did you look at the Lafayette menu? nothing really ground breaking on there
