I get that. It's just amusing to me. Kind of like this on a random weekday morning waiting for Specs to open to grab some bombers.

The homeless guy on the end just probably figured everyone was in line for a free GOAT breakfast.

I am intrigued at the hard on people get over this beer. Does anyone know if it's ever available in the Alexandria Pineville area because I have yet to see it?

But yeah, $12/4-pack for a world class DIAP is a hell of a deal.

Nah. Give me 4 of these bad boys:

Honestly I don't have a best DIPA, but aside from Heady I'd say Bitter Valentine out of Alewerks is on the top of my list.

I have had a lot of DIPA's in this 3 year journey and Bitter Valentine is something I will buy a case of, if I can get that much of it.

Haven't had that one. If ever i'm at a place that sells it i'll try it.

My favorites are Pliney, Heady Topper, and Ghost, of the ones i've had so far. Now when i did my beer tasting, Ghost won, with Heady 2nd, and Pliney 3rd. I prefer pliney, probably because i've had goat so many times, that my palate was a bit fatigued at teh time, and Pliney has a more piney profile. I would rank heady 2nd because of A) it's incredible and B) it's consistency. Ghost only comes 3rd because it's a bit inconsistent. If we were talking juicy ghost or dank ghost, then i'd put ghost nearly even with heady. I find heady and ghost to be very very similar (at least when i did my tasting, batch 5 i believe). Both were juicy and fruity, i just found ghost to last a little longer on the tongue. I ranked them, but honestly, I think i can put all 3 at the #1 spot for me, of the DIPA's i've had so far.

That's the good thing about beer. They always make more, and the non-consistency of ghost is kind of exciting. You never really get the same beer with each batch. I do feel, though, that with the new equipment, we should start seeing less and less variability. I would think after reviews that Parish's goal is probably to be a combo of the juicy and the dank ghost. Seeing how they react to the reviews of their beers, they probably have some of the same opinions as you guys on their beer of which batches they preferred.

I will say, that replicating ghost with each batch is very difficult. The amount of hops used to get that flavor is dependent on hop varietals availability and consistency and age of that hop. Hop shortages are common, so many breweries will substitute different hops if something is not available. Now i heard they got a new fancy hop contract so they should be pretty consistent in the variety of hop they use. But also with that, each hop variety (by variety i'm talking type of hop, whether it be citra, amrillo, columbus, etc...) can change in flavor/aroma/bitterness too. Each hop yield is different. And the age can change the flavors as well. Citra is one that is known to change flavors depending on grower, age, area, etc... Some get loads of citrus, which is very common, but then there are times that the "cat-piss" flavor comes out (hate that term).

Anyway, i don't think anyone doubts that Parish has done an unbelievable job with Ghost.
